Say what you will about the NYT, they invested in developing some useful grapical tools for visualizing election data on their website.

This one shows very clearly how Trump's superior message and hard work allowed him to blow past the lackluster showing Mitt Romney made in 2012, giving Obama a 2nd term.

It's nothing we don't already know, but an informative display and a trend that should bode well for candidates in these counties who have the sense to understand why this happened and to get started Making their small part of America Great Again.

Scroll up and down to see the shift on a county by county basis.

I’d like someone to develop a “PO’ed meter” as I think both sides of the isle would light it up.

When is Michigan going to announce its election results?
Ever?

Same for Arizona and New Hampshire.

Absolutely. I had the page with the NYT election meter (with Trump’s meter at 95% Very Likely [to win the Presidency]) open pretty much the whole night. And I was shocked and impressed with their offerings! And yes. When they showed up. It was great to see! Especially loved their following day headline: TRUMP TRIUMPH!

They really did. I was surprised but they really did an incredible job on their interactive tools for the election. The way they visualized the data really helped.

I liked the small state maps which showed potential votes for each candidate as differently sized dots. It really helped to understand what votes were left and where.

See that patch of really dense red arrows, just west of Washington DC?

That’s West Virginia, western Pennsylvania, and northern Kentucky.

Coal country.

We supported McCain and Romney, even though they had little to say to us.

Trump promised to end the war on coal. Looks like we listened.

Donald Trump did not “reshape the electoral map”. The is no such thing as “the blue wall”.

States like WI, MI, PA, IA, etc. were ALWAYS swing states. But lousy, soft GOP candidates like GWB, McCain, Romney wrote of those states and never made a play for them. The did nothing to appeal to the working class people in those states. So, those people never came out and voted.

Donald made a play and succeeded in those states. Hillary took WI for granted and never showed he face in the state after the primaries.
