I could go for it with one condition:

Citizens of Taxifornia are not permitted to vote for at least 6 years or 2 presidential elections.

-Whichever comes last.

I believe in the right of self determination. If the people of California want to secede, who are we to stand in their way? If there is a popular vote (I do believe secession should be more than a majority, maybe 60%) and the state decides to leave, go in peace. A seceding state should be required to repay their share of the national debt over some period of years and the federal land within the state’s border subject to a negotiated settlement. I think we need a Constitutional amendment to layout the process.

Can we build another wall separating the new Republic (I use that word lightly) of California from the USA after we finish the other one?

Then send the bill to Cook of Apple.

I’m from CA.

You’ll have to do better than that.

Actually you could probably carve out the coastal areas between the two cities, and then they can absorb all the debt they have incurred. The rest of the state can then start living again.

All federal lands will have to remain with US. Otherwise it’s Fort Sumter all over again.

Plus we can cut off all the electric, gas and water if they don’t pay the higher rates. And some tariffs on goods and services going in and coming out.

This could be some serious fun.

Who wants a communist country on our western border, mostly controlling our North American coastline?

Can we just get rid of Los Angeles and San Francisco...

Sounds like a plan. Make them self- sustaining quasi nation, they can pay their bills by taxing plastic bags at $100.00 a piece. See ya, Liberal Lunatics!

Let the rest of CA that has some very strong Red areas have the rest!!!!

This is Reconquista. Mexico is taking back California in a covert manner. It doesn’t even have to declare it. It will just happen with a wink and a nod.

Trump victory gives impetus to California secession movement

As lifelong Californian the only useful impetus I can think of is the elimination of most of the California Legislature, and the State courts...

Without question the most corrupt, stupid(as in dull), most ignorant about science, human nature, history both contemporary and older, the Constitution and the creation of the exceptional most successful Republic in all of human history.

Many of us in the land of fruits and nuts are seriously working on that list.

One very long list to go with prejudice, and, sadly, a much shorter one for the existing California Legislature members who are gratefully invited to remain...

Hell, let them go. They can become part of Mexico. They will take Hollywood with them. The illegal sanctuary state will solve their illegal problem cause the will be Mexican citizens. Seems it is a win win win situation. We can also tax them for importing their technology. Northern Calif wants to separate from Calif, so if Oregon goes too, they can charge a tarriff for travel between Oregon and S Calif. There are some problems, but nothing undoable.
