Per link, 13% of California illegal immigrants admitted to voting per a recent article in the California Political Review. If we use California votes alone, it will wipe out Hillary's thin lead in the popular vote.
If we very conservatively estimate on a national level (8 million illegal immigrants, 10% voting rate, 80% voting for Hillary) we come up with 640,000 votes. This completely blows away Hillary's lead, leaving Trump conservatively with a 400,000 vote lead.
The United States Constitution enumerates on the Electoral College. It says nothing about ‘popular vote.’

I’d love to see the absentees tallied. EVERY vote counts, right, lefties?!
That’s good to know, although our Founders in their infinite wisdom understood that it matters not a whit how many extra insane voters California has, they do not control the will of the people as expressed in the Electoral College.
Subtract the illegal alien and vote fraud - and Trump wins the popular vote, too.
In this election, it’s obvious!
The unpopular votes were the only ones that counted.
Take that DimocRats.
Don’t engage the left on popular vote. We won by the rules and that is all that matters. Let them stew over the injustice of this but who cares.
Constitutionally, the popular votes means nothing and until the Electoral Votes are cast, the actual Electoral Votes mean nothing as Electors in many states can vote against the wished of the people of their state.
And the Panthers outgained the Broncos by over 100 yards in the last Super Bowl.
And, people have to understand, that campaigns would be rub differently, if the goal was to win the popular vote to be elected president.
Trump did not do any rallies or events in California during the general election campaign. The reason is that gaining more support from such events would not have earned any electoral.votes.
I like the anaology of sports, and winning games. Someone mentioned the 1960,World Series, in which the Yankees outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the Pirates win the series, 4 games to 3. The goal there is to win the games, bring in relief pitchers, pinch hitters etc based on the game situation. The goal is not to simply score more and more runs in a game which is already decided.
So, Trump would likely have won the popular vote, if he had campaigned in Democrat states to gain such support. But because the election is decided state by state , not by the national popular vote, you will run your campaign to gain the maximum electoral votes.
If there was a popular vote for President, the election would have played out differently. Trump and Hillary would be hitting California, Texas, New York, Illinois etc. More republicans in California would have come out to vote because their vote would have meaning. We have no idea what the popular vote would be if we had a popular vote election.
The actual number of illegal aliens in the country is closer to 40 million and the number who are registered to vote is closer to 25%. I do not know what the participation rate in this election was, but I would assume that they were one of the more motivated demographics. At a minimum I would guess that there were 5 million illegal votes counted in this election.
Anyone who is an illegal alien who voted is a felon and should be first on the list of those to be deported or jailed.
This relates to a segment from yesterday’s “All Things Considered” on an app developed by liberals in SF that had some shocking results:
“When Mahan looked at the pledges, he didn’t see data among Republican voters to back up the trending hashtag #NeverTrump. Among registered voters on Brigade, 94.5 percent of Republicans pledged to vote for Trump and only 2.2 percent pledged to vote for Hillary Clinton.
That’s roughly what you’d expect.
Here’s where it gets fascinating: On the Democratic side, Mahan explains, “we saw something entirely different.” Only 55 percent of registered Democrats pledged to vote for the Democratic nominee.”
There was no mention of the probability that if anywhere near that many Democrats refused to vote for Clinton there is NO WAY that she won the popular vote.
Here’s a link to the actual audio: http://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2016/11/10/501613521/an-app-saw-trump-winning-swing-states-when-polls-didnt
And the Cleveland Indians outscored the Florida Marlins 44-37 in the 1997 World Series. Who cares that Florida won four games?
The Motor Voter Act, signed into law in 1993 by Bill Clinton opened the floodgates for non-citizens to vote. DMV staff are required to give all customers the opportunity to register to vote. It is not their responsibility to verify citizenship. And most local election boards don’t bother with anything other than verifying whether the address given is an actual address. It doesn’t help when the President of the country encourages non-citizens to vote and tells them they won’t be prosecuted.
Indeed. Winning the popular vote, while certainly not required, does calm things some.
Interesting how the major political news websites are failing to update the election results, not even reflecting the correct number of electoral votes. Probably don’t want to admit that he won in a landslide (psychologically set at EVs > 300) _and_ got the popular vote as well.
It has been a big deal before, why so silent now?
Rolling out the "Hillary won the popular vote" crap now is like the Yankees playing the Redsox with a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th and having Tom Brady run out on the field to throw a 40 yard pass to Gronkowski for a touchdown.
Redsox win 7-6 ???
I don't think
The popular vote is meaningless also because no candidate will a majority of the popular vote. If Hillary or Trump ends up with a “lead,” that means nothing since it will only be a plurality. Remember, her husband was elected President in 1992 with only 43% of the popular vote, far from a majority. The Electoral College is how you create your majority for President.
And the Cubs and Indians both scored 20 runs in the World Series. They should have continued playing.
