Congressman John Lewis was in on that allegation I believe.
They had to censor the ‘racist content’ he was going to use in a speech at the big rally in Washington on August 28, 1963 where Martin Luther King’s more positive words would strike a chord when he spoke.
Lewis was beat up during civil rights protests in the South many years ago by real racists. No doubt a root cause of his anger and bitterness in the years that followed.
