House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Congress isn’t waiting for President-elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in to move on the issue of immigration, saying the wheels are in motion on prepping legislation needed to build Mr. Trump’s pledged U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Mr. McCarthy said he has helped put a team in place “so when we’re sworn in … we are able to move the legislation needed to start building the wall.”
Mr. McCarthy also said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who said earlier this week that Chicago will always be a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants, should focus on the security of his city and the number of murders there.

It would be more than helpful if Congress could have all the legislation for Trump’s first 100 days written, with hearings and all, ready for vote in the first week of the new term. They need to become pro-active instead of wallowing behind and stretching legislation out so long it gets moldy and decays.

Does anyone know if you can tease a wall out of border fence legislation? It may not be so simple. McConnell should get ready to nuke the filibuster just in case. There’s no way this clears 60.

I think we should allow “sanctuary” cities to show the courage of their convictions, and if they are determined to defy federal law, they get to pay for the costs out of their own pockets.

Block the FBI, the INS or ICE? No federal funding for you.
You get to pay for your own welfare, roads, schools, etc.
Riots? Too bad, no Federal funds.
Flood? Too bad, buy your own pumps.
We won’t need to prosecute the mayor, the citizens will take care of him and his minions.
With no federal investigation of what happened.
Use the withheld funds to build the wall!
This is what’s known as leverage. Clearly, Trump and McCarthy are utilizing each other to check Ryan. McCarthy will move the wall legislation which helps Trump while also neutering Ryan because if Ryan opposes it McCarthy is in the position to benefit as the next Speaker. Put personalities aside. This is leverage 101 and Ryan has been effectively castrated before Trump is even sworn in.
WATCH OUT! They will approve the money but they will want something in return to do with legalization.
