Trump Tweets Ford Is Keeping Lincoln Plant In Kentucky (Ford Confirms)

“Today, we confirmed with the President-elect that our small Lincoln utility vehicle made at the Louisville Assembly Plant will stay in Kentucky,” Ford said in an emailed statement. “We are encouraged that President-elect Trump and the new Congress will pursue policies that will improve U.S. competitiveness and make it possible to keep production of this vehicle here in the United States. We will have more details to share on our future plans at the appropriate time.”

That’s A very smart start for Ford, but it won’t prevent Ford from being taxed for vehicles built outside the country and imported until Ford as well as all manufactures prove that their company puts Americans 1st. Once This fact is proven, then and only then will a company be rewarded to expand their manufacturing.

Right. How could slapping a 35% tariff on goods coming back into the country possibly effect a company`s decision on whether to move or not` /s

Of course an even more effective way to keep jobs here is to lower taxes and regulations, which Trump is planning to do.
But to suggest that a 35% tariff on imports would have no effect on a company`s decision to move its jobs overseas is foolish.

Absolutely. But the threat of tariffs are very useful to prevent “dumping” of goods by China and other countries.

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. had considered moving production of the Lincoln MKC to Mexico, but instead the compact premium crossover will remain at the Louisville Assembly Plant, the automaker confirmed Thursday night.

Ford spokeswoman Christin Baker said the Cuautitlan plant was the “likely” new plant for the MKC when the automaker’s deal with the UAW expires in 2019.

But now the automaker plans to build the next generation of the MKC in Louisville, Kelli Felker, Ford’s global manufacturing and labor communications manager told Automotive News late Thursday.”

The Michigan plant that makes the small cars would be used for the new Ranger pick up (to compete with the Colorado and Canyon) and a new small Bronco, both more profitable than small cars.

Myself, if I was Ford, I would tell Trump that we'll build two new plants if you can get the corporate tax to 10%. I think you'll see more companies on shoring if the corporate tax rate gets reduced...
