Maybe Veterans Affairs?
Nope. She’s a real climber. No doubt day dreams about running for POTUS.
I doubt she has any interest in the Trump cabinet. She’s shooting a lot higher than that.
It’s not a popular opinion here, but we fail to listen tto the lefties at our own peril. Some are patriots.
I think she would be wasted there -- doesn't seem like a good fit. Just because she is a veteran doesn't mean she would be the right person to overhaul the VA.
She can bring people and support across the aisle. And she has high ambitions.
I have more respect for Bernie supporters than Hillary supporters. Most were willing to actually talk about issues rather than just hurl insults, like most Hillary supporters.
All Bannon with this move. Gather in all the anti-war, anti-NAFTA, GATT, WTO, TPP Democrats you can and see what sticks to the wall.
Tulsi is not “Native American”.
A number of those Veterans Affairs jobs are very high profile. She’s around 35 with no particular expertise, unless you’d trust her in an Energy Department job handing out ‘green’ grants.
A few things to keep in mind.
1. The population of the state of Hawai’i is highly concentrated with 72% on O’ahu and 28% on all of the other islands.
2. There are 2 congressional districts in Hawai’i. One is entirely on O’ahu. Hers is the other and covers about 30% of the population on O’ahu and all of the other islands.
3. I’m frankly quite surprised to see how the difference between urban and rural areas for voting this month on the presidential election was insignificant in Hawai’i. Most everyplace in the islands are quite rural except for in the towns and the only really urban place is Honolulu. However I see that Hillary got 63.6% on the Big Island while getting 61.6% on O’ahu. http://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president/hawaii
4. Why I’m shocked is because:
a. Rural areas throughout the USA tend to be better for the GOP than urban areas.
b. With rising real estate costs the people who are moving to Hawai’i tend to be only those who have a lot of money. And anyone who can accumulate money certainly learns about how federal income taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes, state income taxes, unemployment taxes, “health care responsibility” fines, rules/regulations, etc. can suck your income and assets dry so when Election Day comes they tend to vote more for candidates who are going to reduce, not increase, the legalization of government plunder/control of our lives.
5. Just a personal anecdote here - I was on the Big Island during the weekend before the election. I saw plenty of Tulsi signs all around. I saw one sign for a local race that made me laugh. It said “Make Hawai’i Great Again” :)
Tulsi’s district is the islands other than Oahu and her part of Oahu are the coastal areas away from Honolulu.
Not all the left are scum. Some are patriots. We fail to listen to them at our peril. One example: the Iraq war. Another: NAFTA.
The futre we face is less left versus right and more nationalist versus globalist. To the extent we can work with patriots on the left, we should do so.
Steve Bannon is our magnificent bastard. We should give him deference. Even when it seems a bit counterintuitive.
Thank you. I wanted to stay that too. I believe her family is Samoan.
Odd that the only 2 elected Democrats nationally with a pair happen to be women, Tulsi Gabbard and Gina Raimondo, R.I. governor who turned the state around economically using Republican economic principles and treats identity politics like the plague.
I’ve lived here in Hawaii for nearly 50 years now and it is a caldron of liberal Democrats. Tulsi Gabbard is the only one I’ve ever seen that has the guts to buck the system. I think of her bucking the liberal establishment similar to what a young Sarah Palin did to the Republican Party in Alaska. I am a conservative so of course I did not vote for her but I am growing a quiet respect for her, a Democrat that is a logical thinker. A very rare animal now days.

So true- and I would go further and say it is not as much Dem v Rep as nationalist v globalist. Trump does not win the election w/o the Reagan democrats getting on board.
Did you see the other day there came out a list of how many states have gone Republican in governors and state houses? It also was pointed out that there are only five states that are completely Democrat in governors and state houses and Hawaii is at the top of the list. Gabbard is however somewhat of a independent thinker. I did not vote for her but do have respect for her as she is the only one that seems to be for her constituents instead of Party Lines. I meet her briefly when she first started running as she came to my door while out running for office. I was honest and told her I could not vote for a liberal democrat but she went on to win without my vote. She was very polite and nice.
The first pic looks like she might’ve been sampling some Maui Wowee.
