I don’t understand why Romney would want to be in the Trump administration. I don’t understand why the Trump administration would wasn’t Romney.

Perhaps it is a trophy thing for Trump? “Behold my foremost critic - as he diligently applies the leaf blower to my lawn.” More likely he thinks Romney can be soothed and made an asset.
But... we know Romney is viper before anyone picks him up.
This should just be scuttled. And Trump will suffer a net loss in both quantity and quality of support by putting such a weak, vapid, conventional seat warmer in such a vital post, especially after the serial disasters we have had for Secretary of State for years now.
I trust no politician until they have proven themselves.
I don’t see the point for either of them. I think this is dumb. The fact that Romney might have been a better president than Obama 2.0 does not mean he has anything to offer as Secretary of State now.
More publicity than Romney deserves.
He’s over. He’ll never get nominated again.
People will remember Romney went against Trump.
The SOS is a very prestigious position. It just has not seemed like it lately with hacks like Hillary, Kerry, Powell and Condi.

Yes, it’s prestigious. However, it has tended to be prestigious because it’s a step up. (Look at Thomas Jefferson.). There’s no step up for Romney. Why can’t he retire to enjoy his family and his great wealth? And there’s no benefit for Trump in this. He should choose someone with some foreign policy experience who agrees with his foreign policy perspective, whatever that is.
I don’t understand why Trump even acknowledges Romney’s existence.

Flynn is a bit of loose cannon. So my guess is the idea is to balance him with someone a bit more conventional at Sec of State. I’m not a fan of Romney but I can see where this is coming from.
I think that overestimates him. I think Romney is just "the past."
