I just came across a story of a Nevada man who was jailed for 28 years for animal cruelty on dogs. This might be some kind of record for animal abuse. Here is the story:

Another man got 8 years for stomping on a cat

Prison sentences for animal cruelty keep getting longer and longer. Doesn't an unborn baby who has reached the age of viability, deserve the same legal protection as a cat or a dog?
If I climbed a bald eagle nest and destroyed the eggs, my guess is I would never see another sunrise. If I’m a windmill, it’s OK for me to kill eagles.
Could it because the struggle to find homes for these babies?
Plus animal cruelty often leads to crimes against humans.
Memphis, just reported a man raped a dog last night’s news.
Some sick people need locked up for life or eliminated.
WHAT? Someone dares to question the highest sacred rite of the democrat party and liberal thinkers? ... nlasphemy ... against satan.

I agree that dogs and cats should get legal protection. But should that extend to mice? A man was arrested for cruelty against mice:

All it will get is more whiny complaints from the party out of power.
No...that’s such a crock. Mothers kill 1.25 chilren per second. There’s no such thought about their homes...children are disposable to mothers and mothers alone and throw them away they do.
Biggirl, one thing my husband and I learned when we were in the process of adopting our younger son, is that no newborn runs any risk of not being adopted. Newborns of either sex, any race, and almost any condition (even with birth defects, etc.) are always outnumbered by the number of people who want to adopt them.
Much more difficult to place for adoption: older children, children who have spent time in foster care with behavioral problems, sibling groups.
First, I wish more people realized that even newborns with Down’s Syndrome are quickly adopted by loving families.
Second, I wish more people would consider opening their hearts and homes to the “hard to adopt”.
I’ve been advocating for spotted owl egg omelette’s for years now - simply delicious I’m told-
If you are a govt lackey wildlife employee, it’s okay for you to kill any animal as long as you are ordered to do it.
