Report: Trump team wants Romney to apologize

Fox News is reporting that Donald Trump’s transition team wants Mitt Romney to publicly apologize for railing against the president-elect during the campaign.

A transition official told Fox’s Ed Henry that some in Trump’s inner circle want the former Massachusetts governor to apologize in order to be seriously considered for the secretary of State.

Trump is reportedly considering whether to pick Romney or former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for the coveted cabinet position.

Giuliani is the preferred choice of Trump’s loyalists and grassroots supporters, while Romney is a favorite of establishment conservatives.

“It’s not about that I don’t care for Mitt personally, but I’m still very unhappy that Mitt did everything he could to derail Donald Trump,” said Trump supporter Mike Huckabee in a Fox interview on Wednesday.

“There’s only one way that I think Mitt Romney could even be considered for a post like that and that is he goes to a microphone in a very public place and repudiates everything he said in that famous Salt Lake City speech, and everything he said after that,” Huckabee said, referring to a famous anti-Trump speech Romney gave in March.

Romney went too far. His actions in OH could've cost President Elect Trump the nomination because it kept Kasick in the game. The two coup attempts....both at the convention and close to the election were either at Romney's behest or at least his blessing. Romney enabled the NeverTrumpers, including that scheme of having a third party candidate to siphon off Utah votes. And now, he'd leave those whose careers are hopefully ruined by following his lead ( Sasse maybe salvageable, Kasick, Ayotte) He isn't even loval to traitors who followed his lead.

Romney is the snake of Trump's poem. Its nature doesn't change.

I don’t think this has anything to do with Trump...it’s all media pushing this...

One thing that Romney can do is go with Egg McMuffin and Juan McCain and go to speak with Bagdaddie in ISIS and see how they are doing...and let them know that Barky says ‘HI’!!!

The media just making up news again.

Let's just wait and see.

I can see Romney in a "something to do with money" position.

I think it would be funny if Romney did this, in order to get on Trump's short list....

And then, Trump ignored him.

Ann apology can suffice for a careless remark. Romney’s speech was a planned, long, vicious personal attack against Trump’s character. An apology cannot repair that.
Mitt made his choice.

Trump will do two things during the transition: Get the right people into the right jobs, and neutralize the opposition. In my opinion, this Romney stuff is more of the latter.

Why only make appointments when you can humiliate people who deserve to be humiliated?

Here the deal.. if Romney had real principles he would not be now going to Trump looking for a job

Trump can extend the Olive Branch to a beaten foe like Romney...and Romney can accept it graciously...but after that what Romney should be doing is retiring to the background..Lee and Grant type of thing

For Romney to now come sniffing around to try and get a job rignt now is classless...

Stupid Fox News/MSM just stirring the pot. Trump will nominate or delegate appointments as he sees the most competent and agrees with his policies. That was the MAIN reason I overlooked his in-articulate speeches, debates, and his thin-skinned Tweets. No one builds such an business empire without knowing who to hire.

I know a little something about business having owned 3. Although, not even an umpteenth of Trump's enterprises, you do learn some things about hiring the best.

At this point, you can’t believe anything the media publishes. They can’t be trusted to report the news factually.
