The death of Fidel Castro, one of this era's most polarizing global figures, prompted an outpouring of responses from around the world, ranging from sympathy to celebration.

President Barack Obama, who has made restoring diplomatic ties with Cuba a hallmark of his administration, offered America's hand in friendship to the Cuban people following the death of longtime dictator Castro on Friday.

"We know that this moment fills Cubans — in Cuba and in the United States — with powerful emotions, recalling the countless ways in which Fidel Castro altered the course of individual lives, families, and of the Cuban nation," Obama said in a statement. "History will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure on the people and world around him."

“...altered the course of individual lives...”

You could say that!

If by altered you mean ended.

“”History will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure on the people and world around him.””

Wow! I wished Castro had kicked off before the election, because this statement would have been worth another two points in Trump’s favor in Florida.

Last night, ESPN had a poignant segment of Castro's love of baseball, and how Cuba's sports programs thrived under his leadership.

I couldn't believe it, ESPN has no shame.

Will Obama use Castro's death as his excuse to finally give Guantanamo Bay back to Cuba, as a "gesture of goodwill" to the "people?"

It's the one thing he's wanted to do for eight years.

I can see Obama saying it's for the Cuban people to "turn over a new leaf," or "turn the corner of history," or "reset the relationship," or some such cliché.

Not going to click on the link. Is that the entirety of his statement?

He lumps together the "emotions" of those who have lived a lavish lifestyle within his inner circle with dissidents who are languishing in prison?

Substitute Hitler or Stalin for the name Castro and see what a ridiculous statement Obama made along with the hypocrital leaders from some other countries.
