Senate Republicans are wary of making a historic move to nix the filibuster despite growing pressure from conservatives.

Roughly two weeks after Donald Trump's White House win, GOP lawmakers are already facing calls to overhaul Senate rules and help push through the real estate mogul's agenda.

The calls to go "nuclear" are only likely to intensify next year when Democrats begin to carry out their pledge to fight Trump's agenda on areas where they disagree.

But Senate Republicans are openly skeptical about making a rules change they believe could come back to bite them, when they are inevitably back in the minorit

Typical...the only avenue open to the Republican side of the Senate is to go nuclear...Progressives wouldn't hesitate for a nano second to do just that.....GOP Senators for the Lord's sake don't go wobbly now, you are not facing gentlemen, you are facing your executioners<....who want to see Socialist venues in place of Capitalistic ones.

GO NUCLEAR FROM THE START GOP.THINK HARRY REED, NANCY PEILOSI AND SEE RED...THEY ARE THE CAUSE OF TRUMP, NEVER FORGET IT.

It’s not nuclear, it’s the Dingy Harry Rule.

“If you gut the legislative filibuster, you are stopping conservatives from being able to fight for limited government,” he added in a recent op-ed.

That would be just fine if conservatives ever fought for limited government. Just when Trump gets in office, conservatives fighting limited government suddenly morphs into Republicans refusing to fight Democrats.

Trump fought the whole world and won, now he has to take on Republicans.

McConnel is a wimp. Harry Reid effectively nuked the filibuster and when McConnel had the chance to keep Reid’s new rules he wimped out. In politics the Dims wage war and the GOP wimps out.

Consider the source. The Hill?

I think we’ll continued to be barraged with articles like this that have one goal; to disillusion us.

Now. us Deplorables don’t give a rat’s ass what the opinion whores and media scum think.

I think the climate is going to change dramatically in the Senate. Not because of, but despite McConnell. Imagine any GOP Senator stating he was afraid to play hardball with the demonrats after the kind of campaign Trump waged?

Democrats went "nuclear" on most administration and judicial nominations in 2013, but maintained that threshold for Supreme Court picks.

The only reason Reid didn't go "nuclear" on SC nominations in 2013 is that there weren't any.

They don’t want to nuke it so They can play games. With the 60 vote threshold then every republican will vote the conservative position. With a 50 vote threshold they will be smoked out like the dirty rats they are when they vote to destroy conservative apppintments.

They need to quit worrying about their careers and so what is right for the country and throw in with the nuclear option to get Supreme Court fixed.

Senate Republicans are wary of making a historic move to nix the filibuster

Harry Reid already did this historic move. Live with the consequences of Harry Reid's precedent or as Nancy Pelosi said, "embrace the suck."

If Senator Reid were still the Majority Leader (thank GOD he is not!), I could see him do a midnight rule, ie last act before closing this 2 year term, of rescinding the ‘Nuclear Option’ ruling! Then the new Senate Majority Leader would have to ‘reinstate it’ for his term if he wanted to use it. We could see this become a regular circus act for every Congressional Term.

Sure they understand it just as they understand they were telling us “screw you” when they promised us they would represent us when all along they were just there for the K-street cocktail parties where more hands could be found in suit side pockets that could be found on actual handshakes. That was their handshake.

What we are seeing is the calm before the storm as it relates to outing these scum bags. No disrespect to scum bags.

The most important part of any deal is to get your counter to believe they have the upper hand. Then reinforce it so they get complacent and when the rubber hits the road, they won’t even have wheels, much less the tires to hit it with.

As I have always said, arrogance is very deep in Mordor on the Potomac. So deep that complacency reigns because it always has and the preparation to act decisively is unattainable because they have no practice in doing so.

What are they afraid of? In 2018 the Democrats have to defend three times as many Senate Seats as the Republicans.

If President Trump gets a third of what he proposed done
before that time, we could well have a 60 Vote block.

If that happens, The Turtle wouldn’t have to worry about it anyway.

Trump should (quietly and behind the scenes) make the Senate an offer they can’t refuse. He should tell the usual RINOs that if they cross him, then he WILL find and finance primary opponents for them when their next reelection comes up.
