I grew up in Miami. My father started a successful small business making furniture. All his workers were Cuban. They worked hard and loved my Dad. I used to work for him in the summer, and I would eat Cuban food for lunch every day.......nothing better than a Cuban steak sandwich with fried potato sticks and fried onions. I live in Trump country now (Queens, NY), and there’s one authentic old Cuban restaurant in the Jackson Heights neighborhood, that’s been around since the 60’s. I’ll bet they were passing out free Cuban coffee there yesterday.

I love the Miami/Cuban accent......soooo sexy and intelligent.

I hear that accent a lot in the Telemundo novelas set in Miami and produced in their studio there-a lot of the actors are from Miami-sometimes I watch one a couple days a week in the evenings. Being of Mexican descent/Tejano we speak the Norteno Spanish dialect as a 2nd language, so the accent and a lot of the expressions and terms are totally different from what Cubans in Miami speak-they are a bit more soft spoken, and there is no drawl like here.

One of the Cubans who lives out here wants to see the CIA back and assist a coup-like the Bay of Pigs, only this time the US troops show up-he is totally serious about that.
