Agree with what you said. The Russians put up a helluva fight, but when the final whistle blew, they knew they could no longer compete. While Russian hardliners may have wanted to keep fighting, Gorbachev and some other sane thinking Russians knew they couldn’t. All the parties you mentioned wanted freedom, in whatever form it took.

I’m fairly right wing myself. But, here’s the rub, in my opinion: Obama doesn’t want any of that. He talks a good game, but he is all about the communism, state control over everyone and everything and I think he truly admires the Cuban model, with regards to the Castro’s. Do you think, that give the chance, he wouldn’t want to do the same thing here? He tried like a mother*cker, but that pesky Constitution thing and a Congress(even when he had complete control) wouldn’t give him everything he wanted. Think about how he and his ilk have glorified Cuba, the Castro’s and Che. In an article by Reason.com, Carney had a picture of Che hanging on the wall.

Now, with Trump we’re going to see a different type of diplomacy. A diplomacy that will ‘roll back’ the disaster that was obama and possibly usher in a new legacy. One that, I believe, will empower the Cuban people to seek the change they deserve just like the people of Eastern Europe did, lead by Pope John Paul.
