To the Editor:
In the wake of Donald Trumps election, weve heard many calls from media and political figures to give Trump another chance. They suggested he might moderate his positions, that it would not be so bad and that we should unite and work together as a nation. What did Trump do with this fresh chance in the very first week? He appointed Steve Bannon to the pivotal role of Chief Strategist, a decision that was instantly applauded by the American Nazi Party and the KKK.
Bannon is a leader in the effort to mainstream white nationalism in American discourse. He is racist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, homophobic, transphobic and has elevated other voices with this agenda through his role as the head of Breitbart News. To highlight one example, under his watch the publication has created a section called black crime, which uses false data and narratives taken directly from white supremacist groups to argue that African Americans are inherently criminal and unintelligent.
Now, Bannon will be one of two principal advisers steering public policy for the United States of America under a Trump presidency. This is a crystal-clear reaffirmation that Trump is exactly what his campaign rhetoric suggested: a racist, authoritarian, unacceptable leader. We cannot enable the normalization of his deplorable words and actions; instead we must resist the implementation of policies that will harm the aforementioned groups, people with disabilities and working-class people of all identities. We are on the cusp of perhaps the most radical lurch rightward in our countrys history, and only through solidarity and refusing to be conned into complacency can we prevent our country from going down a very dark path. The cabal of bigots Trump has assembled as his inner circle and the plans they have published for the first 100 days in office are wake-up calls to anyone who cares about marginalized groups, who believes we must fight climate change, who cherishes our social safety net and labor movement or who holds any leftist or moderate views whatsoever. We are not going to take this sitting down.
That is why we are proposing convening a Coalition to Resist Trumps Policies at the University of Massachusetts, bringing together everyone who has interests at stake in forcefully and effectively fighting back against the damaging actions of the incoming administration. Some may pit protest politics and legislative politics against each other, but we will need both to keep democracy and human rights alive in the Trump era. With this new initiative, we seek to provide a weekly roundtable to coordinate support for each others protests and advocacy, and to strategically organize for our common goals. Using the relationships we have cultivated with elected officials as the UMass Democrats, and our experience in sponsoring and lobbying for legislation, we can be a facilitator for action within the Massachusetts state legislature. Other groups will bring their own unique strengths, such as expertise on specific policy issues and experience in grassroots campus mobilization. We want to help empower all organizations on campus who are doing such valuable work for social, economic and climate justice. We believe that when we talk and work together on a weekly basis, we will stand a better chance in the face of stakes that for many are literally life-and-death. We have reached out to a number of groups already, and if you are with an interested organization we have not yet contacted, please feel free to reach out to us.
In solidarity,
UMass Democrats

WOW! And the hits keep on coming. And they have the nerve to bash DJT for making a simple statement? Yet they can make statements without any validation and nobody bats an eye. When did that start? LOL! Yeah, I know, about 50 years ago. And gettin’ worse with each passing year. I love tolerance don’t you?
Great, this means we won’t win Massachusetts
Poor little snowflakes laying on the floor kicking their feet throwing a tantrum and pledging to hold their breath.
These people are so emotionally fragile. Please someone hand them a trophy!
Fight back against Trumps policies ... what policies? He hasn’t even taken office yet.
I hope Trump and his new Sec of Education will work to shift the culture of the University Systems.....by enforcing diversity standards for hiring and curricula ......i.e. by mandating that conservatism be reflected in equal measure on campuses
The lies they believe.
The hate they spew.
Dangerous group thinkers.
and working-class people of all identities
Hey Um-ass dems, and what have you done to help any of those people? You are more interested in what Lady gaga does than helping real people
Zoo Mass communists do not need evidence to make their outrageous and false claims. They are genuine Democrats with their mindless name-calling and character assassination.
Given that they have disordered minds, will they be able to grow up?
Bannon is mainstreaming the forgotten men and women suffering from "America last" policies of the current regime and Democrat policies and vast left wing conspiracies of the last 50 years.
Is that one of Soro’s form letters. Expect more of the same from other universities all over the nation. They have one head that has given hem marching orders and it’s all coordinated BS.
Brainwashed bots.
Cut off their $$ and most colleges will cull the Professorial Herd down to those Professors who draw paying customers to their courses. If you aren’t teaching something useful in the marketplace, Buh Bye!
Cut off federal funding to all universities. And kill the student loans program. Then sit back and watch the festivities commence. Bring your biggest kettle of popcorn.
Dear UMass Democrats,
I’ll take Huma Abedin for 100, Alex. But seriously kids, what I suggest is you figure out who the IslamoMarxist influencing your group is and you string him/her up. This person has done nothing but take you in a direction which will both destroy your prospects for a better life as well as the lives around you.
It is fun and chic playing communist in college, I get it, but eventually you will have to leave the land of safe spaces and therapy ponies and face the cruel reality that you have been a useful idiot for the past four years and the groupthink only goes away when you decide to make it go away, not a moment before.
As for Steve Bannon and Trump’s team, with your only proof being a left wing media that would say Trump couldn’t swim if he walked across the Potomac, I would suggest to you to do your own homework on the man. Your information is coming from sources who hate Trump more than you do which means you are not receiving accurate information, just information which feeds into your hate. Again, it’s that useful idiot thing I mentioned above.
Snowflakes, let me close with this. Life isn’t fair. There has to be winners and losers and you get to decide which one you want to be. Participation awards are an illusion created by people whose sole agenda is to destroy the moral compass of America and what it stands for. You can’t have it both ways. That’s not how life works.
Good luck in school and remember one thing. It is people like me who are the hiring managers of major companies. Companies which you will apply to after school. I see your Facebook, I see your Twitter, I see your LinkedIn. Your social contract with the left will not endear you to me.
Regards
EQ
Why would anyone care what these idiots think? I’m sure they have opinions on everything, but the less they share of their infantile socialistic ideas the less stupid they look. GROW UP SNOFLAKES (Or not - the nappy pin is the perfect symbol for them)! He won, get over yourselves.
Just carrying on the tradition of Massholes. They demanded we accept Obama’s policies for eight long, weary years and now that the tables have turned they whine and cry like the babies they are.
Think? Not on their own. They are merely programmed parrots hypnotized in a classroom by a professor for 4 years.
He won. Get over yourselves.
