Even if Petraeus weren't a self-confessed law violator and philanderer, and even if he weren't collaborating with Mark Kelly on gun control, there would STILL be serious questions as to his fitness for the SecState gig.

NRA calls Petreus an anti-gun activist. That’s a deal breaker for me. Rohrabacher for SOS.

I agree that the choices being rumored for Secretary of State including Romney, Petraeus, and Bob Corker are bad, but I’ve yet to see anyone on our side put out a suitable list of conservative options. Frankly, I can’t think of any off the top of my head. Guys like John Bolton and Rudy have lengthy globalist connections too. Maybe a no namer ends up in this position, and Trump with his staff essentially runs foreign policy from the White House. Can’t be any worse after eight years of incompetence from Crooked Hillary and Lerch.

Petraeus is damaged goods. Has demonstrated poor judgment. This would be disappointing. I’d take Romney over the general.

I am not a fan of his but it is hard to conceive of anyone being equally as incompetent as John Kerry.

Faulty John Hanoi Kerry the traitor is no comparison to Petraeus. Petraeus has not been bused from an officer to the lowest level of enlisted men. Petraeus has not called service men baby killers, war criminals, terrorists,... Petraeus has not negotiated with the enemy in time of war to run anti American protests. Petraeus is an angle compared to the traitor Kerry.

They don’t want to pick Bolton it seems but if this selection process goes on for a few weeks, perhaps, he will get some consideration.

Sorry, but this story is another example of a political organization trying to raise money by publishing an outlandish story.

Petraeus has NOTHING in common with John Kerry.

Younger Americans forget that after a bad Navy tour in Vietnam, where he used wounds that weren’t even scratches to cut his tour short, Kerry then went to Paris where he became a representative for the VC at the Paris Peace Talks.

He then returned to the US and headed phony “War Crimes” tribunals, wherein supposed vets “confessed” to war crimes in Vietnam. In reality, most “witnesses” were never in military, or if they had been, they spent all their time in CONUS in some REMF job.

Kerry is a traitor, period, and Obama made him Secretary of State!

I doubt he would show up to negotiations with brutal dictators looking like he had his ass kicked like John Kerry did.

Petraeus isn’t qualified. To be Secretary of State, you first have to run unsuccessfully for the Presidency.

I see no compelling reason to name Petraeus.

I was a fan of the younger (much younger, before he was well-known) Petraeus, but he is no longer an acceptable choice for any cabinet position. “Shall not be infringed” means what it says, and opposing the Constitution is a disqualifying characteristic for Cabinet appointees. Also, mishandling classified material is disqualifying. Petraeus may have something he can do in a support role, but not with a leadership position, not dealing with guns, gun laws, or legislation in general, and not dealing with classified material.

STILL be serious questions as to his fitness for the SecState gig.

Like, first and foremost, giving over classified intel to his reporter girlfriend. How does this guy even have a security clearance?!?! Trump was rightly ripping Hillary to shreds over her handling of classified material. But a general who was forcibly retired and prosecuted for mishandling classified material is good to go? No freakin' way!!

By the way, saying that Patraeus and Hillary "mishandled" classified material is like saying that Nidal Hasan "mishandled" his AK-47.

I honestly don't believe that Patraeus would be anywhere near as bad as John Kerry but it's a moot argument anyway. Gross misjudgment with his handling of classified information, being forcibly retired because of it, and being prosecuted for it completely disqualifies him. I'll go even farther: there is no way that this guy should have a security clearance or be allowed to work for a govt. contractor in any way. The only dealings with the govt. Patreus should have is paying a couple grand a month on his fines.
