Because it would be a PROBATION OFFICER not a PAROLE OFFICER!!!!! Seems “journalists” can’t get even the basics correct. Probation is given in lieu of incarceration when the offense is minor. Parole is granted when the offense is severe and requires at least some prison time be served. Totally different. In the case of Patreaus there was great reluctance to even bring charges as it was doubtful he actually committed an offense.
