Hmmm. I’m all for slashing and burning the federal government - but I am not in favor of getting rid of the EPA completely or removing emissions standards. We can cap them where they are.

Efficiency standards are trickier - they need to impact all manufactures evenly and they do not. I’m for removing them completely but imposing a tariff on oil for any nation we run a trade deficit with. Let the market then choose.

You couldn’t have it more wrong. Tariffs are complete BS as are “fuel economy standards.” You’re not interested in letting the market decide. EPA regulations and tariffs are both anti-market.

Trade deficits have nothing whatsoever to do with tariffs. Trade deficits are meaningless, a fake “problem.” They are not a problem in any way, shape or form. If a consumer wants to buy a product from overseas, that is their right and their choice. The only problem would come from restricting and punishing that choice with a tariff.

why? what constitutional role does the federal gov’t have telling manufacturers what kind of car to build? why isn’t a free market a better barometer?

“I’m not in favor of getting rid of the EPA completely...”

Every EPA Nazi should be arrested for sedition, dragged into the street and hanged from a lamppost.
