papertyger: "...are you playing 'my science is bigger than your science?' "
allblues: "If you believe that this mess of speculation, fantasy and magical thinking proves the evolution of the eye you need to upgrade your critical thinking skills."
Mr. K: "The wiki page you sent me to has the exact same theory I mentioned.
It even has a diagram.
But it neglects to mention how a mutation suddenly appears, or how one generation parent passes down these bumps to the next."
discostu: "no the page does not have the exact same theory, its 1100% different.
Theres no mystery 'bump'.
Eyes start with photosensitive nerve ending in single celled creatures."
Mr. K: "geez youre stupider than you are trying to sound."
I see nothing to justify Mr. K's unexpected insult.
Allblues' reference to "critical thinking skills" surely does not encompass his own non-scientific beliefs, does it?
As for Mr. K's question on "how a mutation suddenly appears", what's known for certain is that a small number of mostly harmless mutations do "suddenly appear" in every generation, and can be used to track individual's ancestry back into ancient pre-history.
How & why are not fully understood, generally considered to be random.
