“Incorrect. I’m asking you to point out the rival conjecture: your “null hypothesis” as it were. “

Whatever. If it was wrong, you would be telling me that it was wrong. Since you are not, the point is moot.

I think the platypus is God’s middle finger to Darwin. “Okay, smart guy...figure THIS one out!”

A cute story, but what it really proves is that you need to upgrade the people you surround yourself with as that bares absolutely NO resemblance whatsoever to the theory of how eyes evolved (hint, some level of eye goes all the way down to single celled creatures):

AKA ‘suppressing the truth in unrighteousness”

Personally, I believe one reason the Catholic Church has taken a neutral position on the evolution question as it relates to one's salvation is in recognition that evolutionary theory has become SO ubiquitous, and the training needed to make an informed choice has become SO specialized, that belief in evolution in modern times is only a venal sin as opposed to the full bore mortality outlined in Romans 1.

To be sure, there is no excuse, but I do believe God in his mercy allows for a measure of mitigation with so much arrayed against, and so little in defense of, a proper understanding of His creation.

To be sure...we all know people who, even though they subscribe to some form of evolutionary theory, STILL "glorify him as God," and "give thanks to Him," which they would not if " their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened" as it says in the Scriptures.

I proposed a legitimate challenge you are refusing to take up. That is your choice.

But don’t insult my intelligence by pretending your “snark” is a legitimate response as you turn away from said challenge.

Care to elaborate, or are you playing "my science is bigger than your science?"

“Clever little creature to make it from Mount Ararat to Australia without leaving any signs of its passage in the oceans and land masses in between.”

Fossil platypus teeth have actually been found in Patagonia:

If you believe that this mess of speculation, fantasy and magical thinking proves the evolution of the eye you need to upgrade your critical thinking skills.

“the “signs of its passage” you’re referring to are ... ?”

Hey, listen, when evolutionists can’t produce their missing links, we are just supposed to accept that fossilization is very rare and the record is incomplete.

When, creationists don’t find many signs of platypus migrating to Australia, then the record is complete enough to ridicule them for it.

It’s a totally consistent position, don’t you see? /sarc

While I do take your meaning, and don’t even disagree with it, I don’t think paying mockery for mockery is a winning strategy.

However, I do recognize one can only take so much supercilious contempt before it starts to burn in one’s heart.

I presented an item. If you challenge it, please post your challenge. If not, the accept my post.

I have one of those carbines on my wall. With modern ammo that little weapon is pretty deadly, at least to gel blocks.

Fired expert with it back in 57, doubt if I could see the target at 500 yds anymore. In those days we fired about every weapon that was in service including the BAR, Thompson, grease gun, M1, M1 carbine, Pineapple and the wire wound replacement. I even had to launch a Hand grenade from the M1. @sshat Sgt made me fire it from the shoulder, I weighed 107 lbs he thought it was a hoot.

Fro the article: (Marsupials, too, were once considered to be exclusive to Australia, but their fossils have now been found on every continent.)

"Considered" by whom? Certainly not by any European naturalists.

Possums have been all over North America for tens of thousands of years - and North America was extensively explored long before any Europeans started studying Australia.

God and religion related posts are fine, but it’s getting stupidly out of control by a few of our members posting vanities unrelentingly.

I think there are some open seats over at DU where I doubt your religious sensibilities will be offended.

Again, incorrect.

I stated in post #40 you could not produce your “rival conjecture” and all you’ve done since is try to distract from that void.

Since no one has ever presented even a hypothesis that this creature was transitional I thought the travel route more interesting. Now convergent evolution is rather common for good biological reason. The platypus is well worthy of study.
