Liar.
His ears are red he’s lying
I had to undergo emergency surgery while visiting our son. After surgery I was moved into a room with a very sick patient that was highly contagious.
After pleading with the staff and providing definitive proof that I had contracted a serious lung infection during the period I was in the VA hospital because after surgery the staff had placed me in the same room for three days with a highly contagious patient who was dying and hacking his lungs out day and night (There was a sign on the OUTSIDE of the room requiring "All staff entering this room MUST WEAR A FACE MASK." [emphasis mine]). I was given no protection and the staff refused to move me to another room in spite of repeated requests. As a result, I became deathly ill.
In spite of providing definitive proof that I had contracted a serious infection and pleading not not be released but moved to another room, the so-called "doctor" determined I was "fine and fit for release". So they discharged me.
I was so ill I had to return to the VA in OKC the first thing the next day for two days in a row! I then had to wait sitting on a chair hacking my lungs out in the hallway of the "Urgent Care" facility
FOR OVER E I G H T H O U R S e a c h d a y before a "doctor" from some third world country finally saw me.
They misdiagnosed my problem TWICE and sent me home with the wrong medicine. After this I was so I'll it took me THIRTY DAYS TO RECOVER once they finally diagnosed and properly treated me.
The Chief of Veterans Affairs is a liar; the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City is a disgrace and I am willing to say this to his face.
My personal opinion is that as long as VA Medical facilities are used as training facilities for local schools, misdiagnosis, ill treatment and the like will forever continue to plague the VA. Having been in the VA system since 1988 and been to several different VA medical centers around the country, I can attest that no VA medical center that I have been to merits a ranking above 2 stars. Also the reduction in beds that have been declining since the early 1970’s is a contributing factor to this as is the blatant unionizing of the staff and nepotism that occurs in these facilities. I have seen a doctor who has made false claims about my health from the time I was in high school, to being in actual shouting matches with doctors who weighed more than I did lecturing me on my weight due to side effects of medications, and the continual policy of the VA that a “pill” does not cause diabetes. I have seen an individual sit in a common room with pneumonia all week long, finally get a bed late in the day on a Friday and be in the morgue by Monday. VA facilities that I have been to are run by incompetent individuals who place themselves above the veteran they are supposedly helping. They have chips on their shoulders and heads larger than their egos. I hate the VA with a passion. They have not only destroyed my life but my career as well. I could go on about the Hire the Vet efforts going on sponsored by the VA but I think I will stop here. Vets are poorly treated and given crappiest jobs. I say the D-word and I am hung up on or never called back.
