I hear you. It’s a crime.
A VA employee told me that lots of VA staff don’t believe the vets deserve the care. Apparently they’re so dumb they don’t realize that with no vets there would be no jobs.
As a patient of the VA since 1975, I can say with certainty, the VA should be abolished. Insurance policies for vets would be a HUGE cost savings and we would get better care.
Outrageous.
Several years ago at a Tom Rooney town hall, I suggested that they should just forget about building new expensive hospitals, and just let the veterans use regular doctors and hospitals as though they were all VA . Everyone at the town hall thought it was a good solution to a worsening problem. I believe they tarted to try to authorize this ,but I guess it was not implemented.
Be careful about ‘generalizing’ the VA services....
Fact: My wife has been a psychiatric and PTSD/Drug nurse for 30 years. She gives loving and gentle care to Vets every day in San Diego. Right now she is sleeping trying to ‘catch up’ after having to work 30 hours in overtime THIS WEEK....because of staff shortages. When I picked her up this morning after 12 hours on the Psychiatric ward, she came late out 30 mins late because she was hand washing a PTSD Navy Seal...25 years old and already totally devoid of current ‘reality’...she works and works and works with our men and women...providing caring, professional, loving and comprehensive medical aid EVERY DAY....
With her extensive skill set...she could and is regularly receiving offers to ‘go private’.... almost doubling her pay..
...she will not. SHE CARES.... and she by choice stays at the VA....and she works with many others who CARE...
When you get to the ‘management level’ you have (as with all government agency’s) the Peter principal in many cases.
So lets go light as to the ‘workers’...nurses...Dr’s.... who labor with inadequate pay, equipment and skilled help...every single day...
Thanks.
Fired? , I trust someone will be jailed.
May the Lord bless your wife. Amen.

Give the vets insurance and/or vouchers for real, private sector health care.
They are civilians.
Sonsofbitches ! Should be hung from a tree . . . . NOW !
Thanks Kehoe...I will pass that ‘blessing’ on when she wakes....
She is working another 12 starting at 7:30 tonight... this after getting off at 4 am this morning after her last 12....
She’s a tough lady... and loves her work with our brave and sadly to often now (emotionally and physically broken) men and women still in and now out of uniform.
All this talk about the VA ‘not caring’ is crap...
Could it be run MUCH BETTER...? Hell yes..its a government and no more efficient bureaucratically wise than ANY ‘government’ agency...
Do our Vets deserve a better RUN agency and care facilities?? YES a thousand times over!!
But on the large whole...could our Vets have a more caring ‘boots on the ground’ group of men and women caregivers???....No, not a chance!
.......many on this board who are so very quick to denigrate the care would be SHOCKED to spend a few hours with the teams...and watch the care they give... its nothing short of amazing.
Thanks again for you comment....:)
Blessings back at ya....:)
As a VA Nurse myself, this sickens me. I’m a veteran of the US Army and VA employee, and I give my best effort to the take care of our men and women who served. My coworkers are also respectful of our vets and provide good care. The problem here lies with scumbag unions who refuse to allow management to fire worthless employees.
It’s so easy to play the race or sexual orientation card at the VA. I, for one, am sick of it! I pray that a new administration will change the culture
Printing thread and distributing to my local American Legions.
I went to the VA back in the early 70’S and was sitting in the waiting room when I noticed an old vet gasping and turning blue from lack of oxygen. I went to the desk and told them and they ignored me. I then got quite loud about it and the woman behind the counter jumped up and told me to shut up or they would call the guards and have me thrown out. It stirred them up enough to get him some help though. Those people were some of the laziest a-holes I have ever seen.
May God Bless her for the loving care that she gives these warriors.
I’m very familiar with a recently retired VA employee; they don’t all think like that.
That being said; she could curl your hair with her opinion of management.
That they knew better is evidenced by the fact that they tried to cover it up.
