Be careful about ‘generalizing’ the VA services....
Fact: My wife has been a psychiatric and PTSD/Drug nurse for 30 years. She gives loving and gentle care to Vets every day in San Diego. Right now she is sleeping trying to ‘catch up’ after having to work 30 hours in overtime THIS WEEK....because of staff shortages. When I picked her up this morning after 12 hours on the Psychiatric ward, she came late out 30 mins late because she was hand washing a PTSD Navy Seal...25 years old and already totally devoid of current ‘reality’...she works and works and works with our men and women...providing caring, professional, loving and comprehensive medical aid EVERY DAY....
With her extensive skill set...she could and is regularly receiving offers to ‘go private’.... almost doubling her pay..
...she will not. SHE CARES.... and she by choice stays at the VA....and she works with many others who CARE...
When you get to the ‘management level’ you have (as with all government agency’s) the Peter principal in many cases.
So lets go light as to the ‘workers’...nurses...Dr’s.... who labor with inadequate pay, equipment and skilled help...every single day...
Thanks.
