Brown and Lewis praised the president-elect after the meeting at Trump Tower. They said they primarily spoke to Trump about Brown's Amer-I-Can philanthropy, which aims to keep kids away from gang violence.

"We couldn't have had a better meeting," Brown said.

"The graciousness, the intelligence, the reception we got was fantastic."

Former "Apprentice" star Omarosa Manigault and Cleveland Pastor Darrell Scott, two of Trump's most prominent black supporters, sat in on the meeting. Scott told reporters that the president-elect gave a "verbal commitment" to merge Brown's program with the Trump administration.

Throughout the campaign's closing stretch, Trump make direct appeals to the black community, promising that he would help make their communities safer as president.

Brown and Lewis were superstars in the NFL and both won the MVP award and the league championship.

Lewis, who played for the Baltimore Ravens, told reporters that Trump is committed to "helping us change what hasn't been changed." He praised the Amer-I-Can program and said he supports Trump's pick to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ben Carson.

Imagine a republican running for POTUS reaching out to blacks.

Won’t make a difference in the election /s

But how do you change a culture without telling them they’re living wrong?

Stop having kids at 14, stop the drugs, get married, etc.

He can tell them it is what’s holding them back. Honestly never hurts, I guess.

~~ What we believe, with the Trump administration, is if we can combine these two powers of coming together, forget black and white. Black or white is irrelevant,” he said.

“The bottom line is job creation and economic development in these urban areas to change the whole scheme of what our kids see.~~

I pray for this to become real.

You change a culture by offering a viable alternative. For historical reasons, most inner cities are job deserts created by the move of employers to cheaper more accessible land in the burbs or the country.. And the residents mostly have no transportation to the outlying municipalities where those jobs landed. Getting serious employers to locate in the close-in burbs or the city itself is a tough structural problem, but if anyone can Make it happen, Trump is probably the guy.

thats why the libs are so insane. Trump coming to power means the end of their voting control of the seaboards (once they see that Trump only cares about results not politcs)

Very VERY smart....Hey, Dems, why haven’t you ever tried anything as commonsensical and practical as this? Could it be because you’re not smart, but are instead cynical and perverse?

Trumps brilliance is that he sincerely cares about the right things and he is fearless.

That’s the beauty of what he just did.

He doesn’t have to say one word. Those two men will. And the people they work with will.

Trump is a grand master folks. He’s freakin’ light years ahead of the Halfrican. I say that tongue in cheek, because if Obama had made Black neighborhoods better, I’d be very happy to compliment him on doing so. He made things way worse. FAIL!

Amarosa was a very caustic person on ‘the Apprentice’. I never wanted to see her again. Working for Trump, she seems to be doing a great job. I would have missed out on that. Trump didn’t.

She is able to listen to what is going on and give Trump feed-back from a Black perspective. Very interesting.

That's not true; the corrupt city councilmen will only allow jobs if they get their palms greased.
