I should write political intrigue novels....
Imagine the pres takes a vacation on his way to Hawaii AF1 stops off at an Air Force Base for “refueling” then flies out to Hawaii and gets shot down, blasted into a billion pieces by a nuke from say North Korea....

Of course, at the Air Force Base the president and family are transferred to an air-force jet or private jet owned by an admiral that flies to a foreign country and he is set up for life in Qatar. While AF1 is remotely flown unmanned to it’s doom.
Could be an ideal exit for a president who wants to avoid an impending scandal but wants to hand over the reigns to power and invalidate a recently lost election...
A nuke over the pacific means no actual casualties, but with all the scare factor of NUKE!
