Could be, but he seems to be the only one negotiating..., with himself.

But if we elect obama .... everyone will love us.

We’ve got more nations that hate the USA now than in my lifetime.

if you are still about, can you respond-nicely to this South African Christian on the ‘aids’ thread? He/she apparently signed on just now to comment here.

The Filipinos I know support the guy. They are tired of living in fear of the criminals and gangsters. Evidently in Davio City he knew when to stop and didn’t go after people that opposed him legally

There’s going to come a time when they wish the Spanish were back.

You mean, this should be “into the ocean”?

Speaking of the ocean, I was IN it yesterday, in Davao City. While many of you are snowed in there, we were enjoying the surf. It was beautiful. 😀

My wife and her entire family voted for Duterte. You have to live here, like I do, to get a feel how the people think. They are also fed up with corrupt politicians who are completely unresponsive to the public. He is draining the swamp.
I agree with dadgum's report. Remember also, the Manila media lie as much as the American media. They can't be trusted.

“The Millennium Challenge Corporation, a U.S. government aid agency”
I missed the part in the Constitution which provides for government slush funds, can someone point it out to me?

You are correct sir. Now, his daughter is the mayor, and she kicks rears and takes names too.
I don't think there is any such thing as a non violent drug offender. Most of these clowns are trying to steal money, for their next fix. The people have had their fill of it.

I wonder if places like Singapore are much better? Singapore has a very low crime rate but has a somewhat brutal justice system. It just doesn’t get headlines because the citizens don’t get out of line

I only know what I have heard 2nd hand about Singapore, and that is, the people tow the line, because the powers that be, will come down on their heads. Beyond that, I don’t know much about it.

Mr Obamas legacy now includes turning the Philippines away from us and towards China.
What a successful Presidency.

Numerous reports from various sources say the following:

1. Killing of dealers/pushers and consumers as well.
2. Most are small time peddlers/users and mostly poor people.
3. Very often the victims are shot defenseless (testimonies of families and neighbors).
4. At this time the toll has exceeded 5,000 and must be around 5,500.
5. About half of the killings are “credited” to so called vigilantes who are either paid killers or police units in civilian clothing.
6. Duterte has just said that the “war on drugs” will continue until they are all dead.

I suspect that when the toll reaches 10,000 the backlash will begin to be felt, both nationally and internationally.
