It’s called almond milk because “nut juice” just sounds nasty!
“Its called almond milk because nut juice just sounds nasty!”
The men in my clan and some women burn through our daily calcium and protein intakes. To avoid leg cramps and other cramps, we take calcium supplements.
One of our younger male relatives for a while dated a vegan nut. She convinced him to go on the nut milk instead of his regular milk.
In spite of increasing his calcium tab doses, he was in a state of constant leg/calf cramps. This happened in the late spring when he would normally ride a bike to work and extra miles after work. The calf cramps were so bad he drove his truck to and from work.
One day, he texted his mom, my wife, a lifetime FP RN about what to do.
She texted back, “Ditch the Vegan $itch, and start drinking regular milk.”
He went to a little local bodega during noon hour and bought several quarts of milk. He had finished a quart by the time he got back to work. He finished the rest of the milk that afternoon.
By the time he got home the cramps were gone, and he went bike riding with no cramps and knocked down another quart while riding 10+ miles.
He ditched the Vegan $itch and drinks his whole milk without any guilt and rides his bike without cramps.
