NYT Says GOP Stole Supreme Court Seat From Obama

The New York Times’ Christmas Day editorial tags Senate Republicans for “stealing” a seat on the Supreme Court that should have been filled by President Barack Obama.

The Times accuses Republicans of impugning the institutional integrity of the court by a hyper-partisan charade, arguing the justices derive their legitimacy from their separation from the two political branches of government.

“Mr. McConnell and his allies took a torch to that idea — an outrageous gambit that, to nearly everyone’s shock, has paid off,” the Grey Lady says. “But while Republicans may be celebrating now, the damage they have inflicted on the confirmation process, and on the court as an institution, may be irreversible.”

the damage ... inflicted ... on the court as an institution, may be irreversible

The Court was irreversibly damaged as an institution in 1937, and the damage has been getting worse and worse. 1941 (Wickard), 1947 (Everson), 1954 (Brown), 1962 (Engel, Baker), 1966 (Miranda), 1972 (Roe), 1991 (Casey), 1996 (Romer), 2003 (Lawrence) - all decisions WAY, WAY beyond the authority granted by Article III, all increasing the stakes for nominations, all perverting the concept of equal justice before the law.

To The New York Slimes letting the People decide who should choose the next Supreme Court Justice is “stealing”, but having the President elected via the Electoral College is a crime against democracy. Wonderful mental gymnastics there NYT.

Brilliant...thanks for the link. I found another one at that link where Senator Obama contradicts President Obama, and tries to use pretzel logic to explain it away.

What an unmitigated pile of bovine feces he is.

Trump needs to undo the damage done to the country by socialist FDR establishing a state sovereignty-ignoring activist justice majority.

“It’s the first Monday in October and the Supreme Court convenes for its 197th term, but with only eight justices; the admired Lewis Powell retired in June. There could have been nine justices in place had President Reagan proposed someone like him...

...But instead, the President chose Robert Bork and thus chose angry confrontation. For Judge Bork is not merely a conservative. He has long been a flamboyant provocateur, with a lifetime of writings to prove it. As a result, Mr. Reagan got the rancorous political battle he asked for...

...The Constitution does not state a right of privacy beyond freedom from unreasonable searches and the like; thus Judge Bork does not recognize its existence. Yet great judges and justices have found room for personal privacy in the concept of liberty enshrined in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments....”

http://www.nytimes.com/1987/10/05/opinion/against-robert-bork-his-bill-of-rights-is-different.html

In 1987, the liberals went all out to politicize the Supreme Court, with the NY Times and other Fake News media backing them fully. They did whatever it took to defeat an eminently qualified nominee. And from that moment on, I’ve seen ZERO reason to “be fair” about Supreme Court nominees.

Obama and Hillary wanted to strip the Supreme Court of meaning and turn it into an applauding repeater station for the DNC. May Obama, Hillary and the NY Times burn in hell - unless, of course, Obama or Hillary publicly repent and ask God to forgive their support of evil and perversion!

...”and on the court as an institution, may be irreversible.”

We can only hope that what we've done recently in electing Donald Trump will cause an irreversible change to the SCOTUS. After all, that's what the RATS would have done if the voters had given them the chance.

LOL, the quality of the actual paper just isn’t what it used to be. I used to be able to use it to clean windows with with vinegar and newspaper (which left no streaks) but trying that with the NYT today leaves you wth a handful of mush that disintegrates and leave actual pieces of the paper strewn across the glass!

I presume it would be just as messy for that age old task of lining birdcages, and even less useful as a fishwrap!!!!!
