Trump to inherit more than 100 court vacancies, plans to reshape judiciary
Washington Post ^ | Dec. 25, 2016 | By Philip Rucker and Robert Barnes

Donald Trump is set to inherit an uncommon number of vacancies in the federal courts in addition to the open Supreme Court seat, giving the president-elect a monumental opportunity to reshape the judiciary after taking office.

The estimated 103 judicial vacancies that President Obama is expected to hand over to Trump in the Jan. 20 transition of power is nearly double the 54 openings Obama found eight years ago following George W. Bush’s presidency.

Confirmation of Obama’s judicial nominees slowed to a crawl after Republicans took control of the Senate in 2015. Obama White House officials blame Senate Republicans for what they characterize as an unprecedented level of obstruction in blocking the Democratic president’s court picks.

The result is a multitude of openings throughout the federal circuit and district courts that will allow the new Republican president to quickly make a wide array of lifetime appointments.

I know three lawyers I would consider conservative enough to be a Federal judge - not one of them is interested. The pay sucks and the hours are horrific.

Any of them in the 9th Circus??
************
Either disband the 9th or give them hell on every wrong decision they make... I say disband them and appoint additional (judges that follow the constitution) resources in adjacent courts to handle their workload. Maybe make a new court that “overlays” the 9ths area and then disband the 9th.

Surprising that the Dems/Libs would not have tried to fill all of them.

At least those are 100 positions that may end up not-so-liberal in the near future.

It still causes me to wonder why the Dems/Libs left this many positions open — laziness, ineptness? Or maybe they just assumed President Hillary would be filling them?

Judicial Vacancies Fact Sheet from Federal Bar Association website mentions 103 vacancies. It shows no date.

http://www.fedbar.org/vacancies-fact_sheet

It links to a Current Judicial Vacancies webpage of the US Courts (government website) which indicates 107 total vacancies, as of 12/26/2016.

” Obama White House officials blame Senate Republicans for what they characterize as an unprecedented level of obstruction in blocking the Democratic president’s court picks.”

So the Congress Republicans actually did something useful?

This is one reason I was so befuddled by the NeverTrump republicans.

Most cases in the U.S. are NOT decided by the SCOTUS. They are decided in the lower courts.

I cannot wait to see the first 100 dayz of Trump's presidency. This is gonna be grand.

I hope at least 40 of them are in the Ninth Circuit (California) and the rest in the DC and Chicago circuits.

May Jesus Christ be with President Trump in picking pro Christian, pro Jewish, pro Constitutional Congressional law abiding conservative judges whose job is to determine the laws intent as passed by the Congress and signed by the President. All other laws are unconstitutional and he must turn obamalawlessness by executive actions all over asap. And law and order will be restored to America, much to the dismay of liberal liars and thieves of the o regime.

The rule of law won’t return until every last black-robed tyrant is unseated and disbarred.

Thanks for the reply.

I posted the url and not the article to a few freepers on their threads to see what they think. However, I got a few responses from ignorant freeper wannabes flaming me for daring to post the question.

On freeper wanted to know if their was a FR thread on the story.

I did not start a thread because I do not want to put the story out, especially if fake, on FR, since I know that the MSM will do so gladly.

The pre-election nightmare was that the Hildabeast would make these appointments and bring about the total collapse of the Republic.

I believe McConnell will use the simple majority rule for Supreme Court justices. Harry Reid would, if he he had 50 votes plus Biden.
