New details have been released about President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming New Year’s Eve party.
Trump has held an annual bash at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach for years, in the past drawing big names like Vanessa Williams, Regis Philbin and Rod Stewart.
Among the 800 guests at this year’s event will be movie star Sylvester Stallone and music executive Quincy Jones, Trump’s transition team said Friday in a conference call with reporters. [Stallone was reportedly in discussions with Trump about taking some sort of arts role with the administration, but he released a statement declining the invitation, instead saying that he could better serve in some capacity supporting military veterans.]

The Trumps will kick off the night at 7:30 with a party on Mar-a-Lago’s patio, then move inside for dancing until 1 a.m. The event is sold out, Trump’s team said.
Jose Graterol Designs of Miami is handling decorations for the event. Steve Levine, the company’s business manager, said the decorations will have crystal and gold accessories with white and green flowers. There will be custom-designed hanging floral garlands over the dance floor, he added.
“We’re excited, we’re honored. We’ve done it for the past two years, so this year feels a little different with (Trump’s) new position,” Levine said. “It will be elegant and sophisticated, unique. We never repeat a party, so it’s always different.”
The band, Trump’s team said, will be Party on the Moon, which has performed at the Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party for the past five years.

Russia is sending invitations for children of US diplomats in Russia for New Year celebrations in the Kremlin.
President Vladimir Putin invited the children to a series of parties to ring in the New Year that are traditionally held at the walled government compound in the heart of Moscow.
This came in response to US media reports that a school attended by children of US diplomats faced a shutdown in retaliation for the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats from the United States in the row over Russia’s alleged role in Donald Trump’s win. A Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman denied the school would be closed.
