By charter, the Sec General cannot come from any of the five permanent members of the Security Council.
A few months back Michele Bachmann was on Christian radio predicting exactly that scenario.
That would be sweet to have him the new SecGeneral and have the funding cut so that he would be in command of another failure.

António Guterres, as the next United Nations Secretary-General, to succeed Ban Ki-moon
