Obama boosted White House technology; Trump sees risks

As Barack Obama began preparing to leave office, the first smartphone-toting U.S. president ordered his team to upgrade the White House’s aging technology for his successor. New computers were purchased and faster internet was installed.

Not included in the modernization plans? A courier service.

But that delivery method of a bygone era may be in for a comeback under Donald Trump. Despite his voracious use of Twitter, the president-elect appears to be leaning toward old tech to ensure the security of sensitive messages.

“It’s very important, if you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way, because I’ll tell you what: no computer is safe,” Trump told reporters Saturday in response to questions about Russia’s alleged hacking of Democrats during the presidential election. Trump, who doesn’t email or surf the internet, said days earlier that computers “have complicated lives very greatly.” …

Does anybody really believe that Obola didn’t load all the White Hut PCs up with as much spyware as possible so he could sabotage Trump?

There should only be USAF birds linked JWICS located in SCIF. Even on UNCLAS .MIL there is risk. All White House buildings and grounds need to be cell blocked and WiFi blocked, no wired LANs.

There was an excellent book that came out a few years back called “Unlimited Access” by Gary Aldrich who was the FBI agent in charge of vetting security clearances through the GHWB and the first two years of the Clinton presidency.

The communications personnel and system of the White House were renowned-up to that point, the staff could find ANYONE, ANYTIME.

When the Clintons came in, they had the whole system changed and “updated”. It became difficult to impossible to find someone who didn’t want to be found. And there were a lot of them who didn’t want to be “found”.

Including the President.

Yep, keep it separate, inside the proper enclosure, under the proper security protocols...

JWICS:
“Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System ...
In other words, JWICS is DoD’s Top Secret Intranet together with its Secret counterpart, SIPRNet. JWICS superseded the earlier DSNET2 and DSNET3, the Top Secret and SCI levels of the Defense Data Network based on ARPANET technology...”

Or he could just write it in cursive.

My first thought, also. Quite the step up from removing the ‘w’-s from the keyboards. Confiscate the computers now.

Russian cursive! Then Putin could read it, but at least not the Dims!

Very fishy. But yet he delayed the Oval Office stuff so that Trump won’t have the Oval Office for a year.

It won’t take a year. There is a new sheriff in town. Under budget and ________!

And all that new stuff will be full of backdoors! And we know how much obama loves “backdoors!”

If I were Trump, I would pony up my own money to purchase even newer tech, then stick the tech purchased by the Obama admin in a storage room, never to be used. No way I would trust this bunch of Marxists.

He should get rid of everything.

Exactly correct. Not only is the current admin untrustworthy but the Chinese that built that crap cannot be trusted either. A simple keyboard or even a piece of cable could have a radio and antenna built into it.

Commander Adama made sure the Galactica had all on-board computers insulated from networking. It was the only Battlestar that survived the initial Cylon attack.

At this point can anyone trust networked systems??

Yep, sounds right. I can’t imagine him doing anything to lessen Trump’s load just to be helpful.

Very simple to do; worked that way at the state agency I worked for, including personal emails from a company computer.

Yes, it isn't a technological problem, just a political problem. But if he does it, it would be difficult for a Clinton to come in and undo it.

>> “Trump sees risks..” <<

No, Trump seeks to reduce the risks by using the security of a real courier.

And the MSM seeks to reduce their butt hurt by attacking the new President that will not allow his message to be filtered through traitors.

Possibly!

He should have all of the new equipment checked out for security bugs by independent operators.

They should be those he trusts due to proven performance representing his business.
