I would LOVE to see the technical description of how a keyboard, or any input device, leaves a “digital fingerprint”.

100% pure bullsh*t

This is akin to the hysterical concern too many people on Guam are going to flip the island over.

i cannot believe how anti-Trump Barbara Starr is. She is the CNN pentagon reporter - and she is old and vicious.

OK - does the new def sec bring in a new press team. Can they stop making useless comments to her

True. Anyone could send ASCII characters of any of the known forms. I'm guessing it was Peggy.

That is far too kind. This is active disinformation.

And a reminder from June:

Chinese breach data of 4 million federal workers
http://tinyurl.com/h5pxm2x

“Hackers working for the Chinese state breached the computer system of the Office of Personnel Management in December, U.S. officials said Thursday, and the agency will notify about 4 million current and former federal employees that their personal data may have been compromised.”

This was a hack of actual FedGov systems, resulting in a very damaging data release. NOT just some emails being released from Dem campaign operatives. No response that I know of in the Chinese case.

Do we need any more proof that the response to this supposed Russian phishing event is about domestic politics?

That is probably the kind used by the Department of Homeland Security.

The original hacking software was written using a Cyrillic alphabet keyboard. How many hands that software went through and who eventually used it are still missing facts.

Get Assange on the line to see how he vetted the submission to him.

So when you type code, in addition to the characters you type, information is input automatically identifying a specific hardware keyboard as well as an identifier for the system software generating cyrillic glyphs?

I've written a fair amount of code over the years and I've never noticed anything other than the code I've input.

And they've learned this now, after the FBI document was widely ridiculed and shown to be idiot bait.

I'll bet if they look really close they'll smell vodka at the point of the hacking too.

I suspect the reference is not to a specific keyboard but rather a specific keyboard TYPE. Maybe standard issue Cyrllic.

Read a bit on this. The idea is that Russian hackers have an MO for hacking. And that the DNC hack carries that MO.

The problem is....that some people working on this know that MO and are capable of "creating" a Russian MO hack.

Obama loyalists playing games.

Who found out?? That kid that got murdered...Seth??

Now remember, this goes back to 2015....at least.
