Yes, there's a huge sign painted on the Lordstown plant, visible from the Ohio Turnpike:

If true...Here's a crazy idea. Check to see if it is true first. Communication has to be accurate to be effective.

It might have been a mistake about what was happening, but it wasn’t a mistake about the principle.
This is what happens when God blesses someone sufficiently. Even his mistakes are blessed.

And this is an opportunity for GM to act magnanimous. “We at GM have been proud to produce all our US-sold Cruzes in America, and have no plans to do otherwise.”

Certain versions, including a hatchback model, are imported to the U.S. from a plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.

This needs to be accompanied by several measures that make it beneficial for companies to do business back here. Do the regulatory, tax, and labor law reforms FIRST.
Would anyone on this forum tolerate 0bama trying to dictate terms to American manufacturers?

Wrong redneck :-)
However, I’d be more concerned about imbalance rather than about stopping trade per se (except for strategic goods). Ship Iowa grown corn to Mexico for its tortillas, deduct that from the balance, etc. Tax the balance, not the absolute trade.

If Barack had hypothetically backed off, or proposed backing off, regulatory burdens, he’d have something he could sanely deal in.

It’s not a mistake. You can go to any Chevy dealer and find Mexican made Cruz’s. GM cheats. Look at the vin, GM Mexico is 3G. It’s usually in the driver door frame.

Car companies can build their plants in the southern right to work states and avoid unions.

Under a Trump umbrella, they may be more likely to do this.
The union rank and file are slowly waking up to the reality that their union leadership has been milking them and that any other rewards said rank and file are getting are Pyrrhic.

“Just make all states right-to-work and remove compulsory union dues”
Eliminating automatic dues deductions from the paychecks forcing the employee to write checke to the union makes unions go away even faster

Yup - but you can’t force all 50 states into right to work without a constitutional amendment.
