That's our conundrum.

Yup. Trump won because union guys in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania abandoned the Dems to vote for him.

Try and wipe-out their unions and likely they won't vote for him again. There just aren't enough voters who buy into classic free-market economics to win elections at this point.

Well, speaking of work, sometimes this place tempts me to spend less time on it than I should. I love to chew the fat, don’t get me wrong. But maybe I can dine on the whole pig, so to speak.

Maybe this is an odd place to mention it, but it’s possible that I may be the author of a theme song, from a Christian point of view, for “Let’s Make America Great Again.” This was requested of my musical (and spiritual) work partner by an ASCAP affiliated Christian music publisher. ASCAP seems to be more into that; BMI (which I signed up with some years ago) seems to be more into generic country music. Out of respect to my work partner, I’m not going to put it up on FR yet. However I’ve floated the idea of trying to get it dished out at, or very soon after, the Trump inauguration. It’s definitely, very definitely, non-secular. In fact it has strong evangelistic overtones. However, I believe that is where the zeitgeist is headed. This hunch has been backed up by seeing the zeitgeist, turning more spiritual, back up some of my other lyrics, years after I penned them.

Anyhow, the key to this is the gift of Christ, which He gave at the cross (or in Spanish, cruz). So maybe that’s a tie to the topic here :-). People always were offered the gift, but some took such an attitude that they would always refuse, and God full well knew this in orchestrating the drama that we call history.

So anyhow... I’m hoping to get a call to Nashville, which is kind of the gospel and country music equivalent of what Hollywood is for movies. I could feed them scads of material. And I am pretty knowledgeable about modern politics, thanks to FR. If any of you folks are of a mind to pray for this and you would agree this would bring about a blessing to America (and to the world) please do so... I know this is not in the Religion forum, but I may repeat my request there, later.

Thank you in advance, and literally God bless America...

Trump won because people, not just union people, want manufacturing back. 90% of manufacturing is done by NON-UNION workers.

I will pray for your work, talents, gifts, adventures intersecting with God’s will and this possible age of “national post progressivism” we may be entering.
Always hope!

Yes, that’s what I said - though I should perhaps I should have said “the deduction of”.

Nope. They admitted Trump was right, very quietly. GM’s statement:

“General Motors manufactures the Chevrolet Cruze sedan in Lordstown, Ohio. All Chevrolet Cruze sedans sold in the U.S. are built in GM’s assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.”

Trump did say “Mexican made model of Chevy Cruze” - not that all Cruzes were made in Mexico. GM has actually confirmed it - the important part from the above:

“GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.”

So, yeah. He’s right. There is a Mexican-made model of the Cruze that is being sold in the US. It’s the hatchback.

No, he didn’t. From GM’s official statement:

“GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.”

All the *sedans* sold here are made here. All the *hatchbacks* sold here (which aren’t many) are made in Mexico.

It’s not even novel. It’s already been used against gun makers and others by liberals on matters dear to them - many times in the past 20 years.

Get rid of unions...

Good luck with that when dealing with GM. They are owned by the unions.

If anybody recalls (or cares), Obama stole the company from the bondholders and gave it to the UAW.

The entire company can go bankrupt as far as I am concerned.

Except he’s wrong about them all being made in the US.

“GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.”

The Cruze hatch offered for sale in the US is made in MEXICO.

Except they *do* make one version of the Cruze on sale in the US down in Mexico. GM’s official statement, in part:

“GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.”

The hatchback offered for sale here is *Mexican*.

I will not buy a GM product since they got into bed with the Obama administration.

No, GM admitted that some of those made in Mexico are sold into the US. They say it is a small number.

GM acknowledged that "a small number" of the recently launched Cruze hatchback are made in Mexico and sold in the U.S.

They can already get away from unions. All they have to do it build the plants in right to work states.
Trump has it about right, they move those plants to mexico to take advantage of what amounts to slave labor. Then, they think they should be able to run those products into this country without paying any taxes at all.

Trump has said all along...he hasnt any problem with state competition.

Gotta love that MSM parsing. It’s not that a small number of the hatchbacks are made in Mexico. ALL the Cruze hatches are made in Mexico and so far they haven’t sold many of the hatches in the US.

UAW master agreement says that all GM plants in the US, even in RTW states, are union.
