Term limits is an old saw for climbing career politicians. Always a popular talking point to tell the base. DeSantis and Cruz certainly fit that bill.

So then Trump, DeSantis and Cruz are "climbing career politicians" BSing the base about term limits, while all the rest of the silent politicians who apparently don't support term limits, they are the good eggs. Right?

Thank you !

Term limits are arguably useless for the following explanation.

The Founding States made the first numbered clauses in the Constitution, Sections 1-3 of Article I, evidently a good place to hide these clauses from Congress (sarc), to clarify that all federal legislative powers are vested in the elected members of Congress, not in the executive or judicial branches, or in the non-elected bureaucrats running constitutionally undefined federal regulatory agencies like the EPA and the iRS.

So Congress has a constitutional “monopoly” on federal legislative / regulatory powers whether it wants it or not.

The problem is that post-17th Amendment ratification, state sovereignty-ignoring lawmakers are not only letting federal regulatory agencies get away with stealing legislative branch powers, actually often stolen state legislative powers, but also allowing such agencies to use those stolen powers oppress the states and their citizens.

By allowing the country to be run by non-elected bureaucrats, corrupt lawmaker are arguably keeping their voting records clean. And by keeping their voting records clean, they are able to fool low-information patriots, patriots who are clueless about the fed’s constitutional limited powers, into reelecting them.

So the problem with term-limits is this. Regardless that a former member of Congress whose term limit had been reached is out of office, the like-minded bureaucrats with no voter accountablility that they voted to put in charge of federal regulatory agencies are still running the country (oppressing the states and their citizens) with stolen state powers.

But let’s let Cruz / DeSantis push their term-limit constitutional amendment, as long as the proposed amendment includes a provision that gives the states the power to not only recall bad-apple lawmakers, but also fire the bureaucrats that they hired.

Actually, we need to get the bureaucrats of all constitutionally undefined federal regulatory agencies out of the federal government. And Trump may not know it yet, but that’s one of the reason that patriots “hired” him.

Patriots need to support Trump in draining the unconstitutional big federal government swamp.
