He has authored House Bill 375, or the Constitutional Carry bill, to give all Texans the right to openly carry a handgun...

Typical media ignorance. Constitutional carry ordinances in other states have stipulated that citizens NOT OTHERWISE BANNED BY LAW can carry concealed without a permit.
Felons, mental adjudications, the young, and other prohibited persons would still not be included.
Good. This would go a long way to stopping the police in Dallas and Austin from harassing everyone who has a pistol. If everyone is potentially armed then carrying a gun becomes the new ‘normal’ and the police and the pantywaisted liberals will stop thinking everyone with a pistol is suspicious.
Good clarification, thanks. I’ve also read that in other states which have instituted Constitutional Carry, the demand for state licenses hasn’t decreased because people want to have the ability to carry in states with reciprocity. I’m in that category.
I would just hope that people who do have RTC licenses aren’t penalized when the are carrying without their license.

My concern is that violent, feral ghetto people, not yet convicted of a felony, will carry.
It will result in more episodes of “When Keepin’ It Real Goes Bad”.
I do not want that.
Most Texicans that I know carry without a permit because they don’t want to be on a confiscation list.

I'm philosophically opposed to licensing of any kind for carrying open or concealed. However, it has been extremely useful to see the statistics of exactly how law-abiding current permit-holders are. I just wish that more police realize that we are self-selected as the good guys. When a cop has interactions with someone with a CC/OC permit, he should immediately relax somewhat, because we are generally the last people that he should worry about.

I'm pretty sure that's already the case (violent, feral types care little about the letter of the law).
This has been introduced in the Republican House and Senate in Tennessee for the past few sessions, but despite having a Republican governor who said he would sign it, they have killed it in committee.
