Trump Prepares Executive Orders To Begin Obamacare Repeal On "Day One"
ZeroHedge ^ | January 4, 2017

With the Senate already having launched the process of repealing Obamacare when, as reported yesterday, Senate Budget Committee Chairman Mike Enzi released a 2017 budget resolution setting up the process to partially repeal Obamacare early in Donald Trump’s administration, on Wednesday vice president-elect Mike Pence met with Republican congressional leaders to plot the strategy of how to repeal Obama's signature healthcare law.

Speaking to House republicans, Pence said Trump plans to take executive actions to start unwinding ObamaCare on day one: "Our first order of business will be to repeal and replace ObamaCare," Pence told reporters, adding the process would begin "day one."

"The speaker of the house used the word ‘stable,’ and we will do that," Pence said at a news conference after a private meeting Wednesday with House Republicans. There’s a "broad range of idea on how to do this," he said, without giving details of what a replacement might look like.

The VP-elect added that “it will be an orderly transition to something better...using executive authority to ensure it’s an orderly transition. We’re working now on a series of executive orders that will enable that orderly transition to take place even as Congress appropriately debates alternatives to and replacements for ObamaCare.”

Incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters Tuesday that Trump considers Inauguration Day as "Day One" of his presidency: "He is prepared and ready to go. As he's said before, he wants to enact real change on day one. That will mean within hours of being sworn in," Spicer said. "He put his team on notice that he expects nothing less than everyone getting right to work for the American people."

I’ll raise. Make ALL government employees - local, state, federal - participants.

Kill it.

Otherwise, some distant Dem president might resurrect it.

Stomp it. Salt it. Burn it. While they can.

Bury it.

Your side broke it and Trump is trying to fix it. Nice try though.

There is no fix. There is nothing the government can do in this area that won't make it worse. Repeal, do not replace.

>Well, so much for the claims by National Review, Weekly Standard and the other “Never Trump” media that Trump was going to stab conservatives in the back by keeping Obamacare in place.

I haven’t heard a peep from the #NeverTrumpers since Trump won. I wonder what they’re upto?

The first thing he can do is rescind all of 0bama’s waivers.

Waiting and plotting. They didn't go away.

I have a super easy one.

Unfortunately, it will NOT be this easy. Those with just a basic understanding of how the insurance process works knows it will take time to roll it back, unless, of course, you want single payer. It will NOT be an easy process, despite armchair pundit's claims to the contrary.

Executive Order #1: “By the authority given me under section (blah, blah, blah), I hereby grant a waiver to ALL American Citizens from “obamacare”, thus exempting them from participating in same.”

And 3-6 months later, we'd be under a single payer system. Careful what you wish for.

Immediately grant an exception to anyone and everyone who asks.

Then immediately revoke all exceptions granted by Obama.

The Democrats own Obamacare. Once it's repealed then since the Republicans are promising a replacement then they own that. Be careful of what you wish for.

Easy solution. Don't have a government plan. Allow freedom to actually work for once. Punish those abuse the system, but allow We the People to buy what we want, as we want it, as it is offered by the market. Done.

freedom of choice for patients and doctors, and a truly free-market, will greatly increase supply for everyone, and greatly decrease costs.

Gonna take a long time to unwind it and get to that point. Obamacare contains so many crony capitalist deals for insurance companies, big pharma, etc.

Thank you for referencing that article Zakeet. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

""Our first order of business will be to repeal and replace ObamaCare," Pence told reporters, adding the process would begin "day one.""

Although Pence’s heart is in the right place, just like Trump’s is, evidently neither of them understand that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for intrastate healthcare purposes.

Patriots need to get Trump & Pence up to speed with the idea that healthcare is a state power issue and base Trumpcare on the Constitution’s Commerce Clause (1.8.3) if he can, repealing unconstitutional federal regulations that are making healthcare more expensive.

But if Trumpcare ultimately requires new federal goverment powers beyond the scope of the Commerce Clause then Trump must work with the states to amend a Trumpcare amendment to the Constitution.

And the states can decide that they want to experiment with their own healthcare programs and ignore any proposed Trumpcare amendment.

Patriots need to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp, not make it bigger.

ObamaCare can be viewed in two parts:

1. The original law passed by Congress.

2. The executive orders and HHS regulations that were imposed since the original law, which exercise authority that is given to the executive branch under the original law.

Trump cannot overturn the original law on his own, but he can go a long way toward "fixing" the problem by rescinding many of the things that were imposed under Item #2.

Trump can also immediately cease and desist in any enforcement activity or court proceedings involving compliance with ObamaCare provisions that were left solely to the discretion of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, for example.

Repeal and don't replace is what I have been advocating all along.

I’m not sure i like Trump using EOs and bypassing the 2nd branch like Obama did.

However, knowing this RINO congress, it seems like he is warning them to get on the Trump train or it’s leaving the station without them!

“I’ll take your executive order and raise you another one which un-exempts Congress from the law, LOL.”

LOL, that’s the way to get Congress to act quickly!

Wow, this seems like the right path. Hope Trump knows about it.
