Scuttled Ford plant has Mexico fearing more under Trump
AP ^

Posted on 01/04/2017 1:21:47 PM PST by springwater13

"Mexico loses thousands of jobs with no word on a clear strategy for confronting the next U.S. government which has presented itself as protectionist and, especially, anti-Mexican," the paper wrote. "Trump will try to recover as many U.S. companies that have set up in Mexico as possible. He will try to make them return at whatever cost, through threats or using public resources."

"Ford's decision is indicative of what awaits the economies of both countries," the daily La Jornada said. "For ours a severe decrease in investment from our neighboring country, and for the U.S. a notable increase in their production costs."

Hope said more decisions like Ford's are likely to come. And while the loss of a single planned plant probably does not fundamentally change the U.S.-Mexico economic relationship, "it certainly shows that the idea that the status quo was entrenched was false."

"This should put us on notice that when he says that he wants to renegotiate NAFTA, he means it," Hope said.

After a period of pain, Trump will be the best thing that ever happened to Mexico.

Had Mexico not exported its surplus population to US for decades, the whole issue would never had arisen.

I used to like Trump because he made all the “right” people angry. I like him even more when he makes all the “right” people wet their pants in fear.

Incentivizing companies to keep jobs in the USA is hardly tyranny.

Tyranny is allowing our country to be over run by illegal aliens, thus suppressing our markets, while Foreign countries reap the benefits.

Don't forget, we are supporting the poor of Mexico, while they are taking our jobs and enriching themselves.

Yes, we NEED to place tariffs on products from foreign countries.

Mexico, being the personal portfolio/hedge fund of the Bush Dynasty, couldn’t believe their dynastic patrons were just gonna let him become POTUS. That’s just how Mexicans think.

Mexico should have respected Trump from the first day. Now they will learn the hard way.

WHAT HAPPENS TO HUMANITARIAN US FOREIGN
AID TO POVERTY-STRICKEN CENTRAL AMERICA?

Alfonso Portillo---ex-president of Central America's Guatemala--- faced charges in New York that he used US banks to launder millions looted from his impoverished nation. Alfonso Portillo took office in 2000 pledging to (ahem) redistribute Guatemala’s wealth.

Portillo, 61, allegedly ran scams to drain the impoverished country's coffers. The feds say Portillo embezzled about $2.5M provided by the Taiwanese embassy....$1.5 million was earmarked for “Libraries for Peace”....books for school kids.

Portillo colluded w/ corrupt C/A insiders---he personally endorsed three $500,000 checks issued against an account at the Intl Bank of China in Manhattan, then deposited the cash in the Miami bank account of a Guatemalan bank controlled by a close associate and political supporter.

The embezzled foreign aid money was funneled to bank accounts in Paris in the names of Portillo’s ex-wife and daughter.

<><> Portillo swindled nearly $4M defense funds ...

<><> plundered the national bank run by his alleged co-conspirator...

<><> through overdrafts financed by public reserves the pilfered foreign aid money paid for expensive watches and cars, for Portillo and his associates. (NY POST excerpt 5/28/13)

Just remember my FRiends, unconstitutional federal acts under Trump that seem to favor the Right (”feel good tyranny”) should be shunned as much as belligerent unconstitutional federal acts like those under Obama.

It's unconstitutional to tweet? Because Trump hasn't done anything other than that so far. Why are you holding your musket ready to fire?

FOLLOW THE MONEY-----the resignation of Agustin Carstens, chief of Mexico’s central bank, has left MSM pundits and even business analysts scratching their heads. It appears no-one has any idea why Carstens is leaving…...... well, almost no-one.

Betcha there's a lot of THERE, there.

ITEM--- Mexico has been swilling at the US trough....grabbing our tax dollars hand over fist.

ITEM---Mesico is one of the top ten countries receiving US foreign aid----almost a billion per year besides raking in hundreds of millions via the infamous "Merida Project."

ITEM--- Mexicans here send home back billions of our tax dollars.....the federales are prolly getting a huge cut of that.

ITEM--Some 125 countries including Muslim scum gather at the Mexican border to stroll into the US. Mexico prolly gets a fee from each country to let that happen.

Another possible win-win is to exchange our useless druggies for industrious Mexicans who want to work and pay taxes here. Drugs (and rehab treatment) is a lot cheaper in Mexico. For every druggie which they agree to relocate, we could issue a green card.

Of course, this will have to happen AFTER the wall is built and our job bleeding is starting to heal. Mexico can accelerate the process by making it legal for U.S. entities to own land here and making "Press 2 for English" there as easy as "Press 2 for Spanish" is on this side of the Rio Grande.

As I said, I don’t know of any unconstitutional federal acts contemplated under Trump yet but when it comes to the feds who are now 70%-80% unconstitutional, you should always be “holding your musket, ready to fire.”

The absence of a dialogue about this is a concern because the Right has a nasty habit of turning a blind eye to GOP Presidents launching unconstitutional federal acts. The potential should be addressed and the American People must be vigilant. Remember, the feds are NOT your friend, I don’t care who’s in the WH.

We should be vigilant about reinstating the Constitution as the Rule of Law against the feds in our country. That issue and dismantling the mostly unconstitutional portion of the federal government trumps all other politcal issues

The unspoken fear among the Mexican elites is that they may be hanging from lamp posts in the next many years as the chickens of their corruption come home to roost.
