At least Austin has some good BBQ and a couple of decent music sites. Ithaca has tofu tapas and a Grassroots festival.
Cornell does have some talented professors and students (not that you can’t find these elsewhere), some very good libraries, and a very good Vet School. The scenery is pretty for being east of the Mississippi and the hockey is fairly decent.
