The soon-to-be former President Obama will take his last flight on Air Force One after the soon-to-be President Donald Trump takes office, the White House confirmed.
Citing tradition, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed that President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama would be leaving Washington D.C. on Air Force one after Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The pair will leave the White House for the last time aboard Marine One before Air Force One takes them someplace warm, according to their plans.
Obama has referred to his post-inauguration plans for years.
“I know what I’ll do right after the next president is inaugurated: I’ll be on a beach somewhere drinking out of a coconut,” he said in 2014, during an interview with Tumblr.

Every former President gets this. It is not new for Obama.
Yes it is standard. But the planes call sign will not be AF1. In this case it will be DB1 for “Douche Bag one”

AF 1 is for the POTUS. After the Inaug, Obama is no longer POTUS, right?

Yeah - I was wondering about that too. He JUST HAD a two-week mid-winter vacation in front of his fawning media suck-ups in Hawaii! Now, why is he (and Michelle, and the girls, and the dogs) going to go in front of the cameras moments after Trump is sworn in?

With any luck AF1 is taking him to his true home (Kenya).
True. It’s seen as a sign of respect from the new President to the outgoing. If Obama had any class at all, he’d demur and take a limo ride to his new home.

The plane will no longer be “Air Force One” because the president isn’t on board.
I could put Trump on a Cessna, and that Cessna becomes “Air Force One”
Besides, I would rather push the controls forward and put on a parachute than face the post-obama cleaning bill.
