They didn’t treat Reagan so well and he rocked into office in ‘84.
And I dont think Nixon fought back as hard as Trump would.
He’d lead a civil war before he let them kick him out of office :)
Nixon had Agnew to do the attack dog thing until Agnew was forced to resign. Reagan certainly did not have a friendly press, but there was not the visceral hatred for him that there was for Nixon and, now, for Trump.
