I've been trying to put my finger on it and this quote certainly helps. For 8 years Libs (rank and file co-worker grade Libs, not professional Leftists) were largely silent, easy to get along with, nonconfrontational. Now, they can't shut up about Trump. Apparently, Libs were able to hit the snooze button for the last 8 years simply because Obama was in the White House. Trump's victory is unsettling because it proves things are not how they imagined them to be.
