I do not favor high tariffs, generally.
But Mr. Trump is right to try to restore some of the jobs Obama and Company have driven out of USA, we need jobs!!!!!!

and I am betting that most of the companies WILL cooperate with DJT, too

I saw a new Mercedes SUV the other day. Ugly as hell. Trying to compete with Land Rover.

No more free rides.

America is a big automotive market.

Build in the US for the US market or you will be forced to compete on a level playing field with car companies who do.

My Mom has the 2013 Mercedes E Class, when we went to the dealership they had some models that said majority of the parts were made in Mexico, she did not want that car..cars made in Mexico are not reliable, at least the ones she has dealt with, so car she has is made in Germany(With a few parts made in other places but its majority German built) it would be great for Mercedes to have a plant here in America as well as other car dealers

German automakers have substantial investments in Mexico. BMW announced a $2.2 billion plant in central Mexico that will open in 2019, where it would produce the BMW 3 Series. Another German car company, Volkswagen, opened a $1.3 billion facility in Mexico last year for its Audi division. Even Mercedes-Benz has plans to move part of its operations to Mexico by 2018.

The Germans are doing so they can charge Americans less on the sticker. It is for the children. I am sure the Krauts aren't going to pocket the windfall by using 3rd world beaner stoop labor. /sarcasm

There is no one snootier, other than Obama, than a German plant manager or engineer.

When you buy German cars, you are putting money in Merkel’s coffers and subsidizing the Islamization of Germany.

After Merkel’s shrill response, the tariff just got higher. Let’s make it 40%. Every shrill response leads to a 5% increase.

What ever cars and parts they make in Mexico should be sold to and in Mexico...Problem is most Mexicans can’t afford them since they don’t pay the Mexicans enough wages to even afford the cars they build...

If the German car-makers defy Trump, I will never buy one of their cars again.

They can hardly afford to defy him, given the number of Volkswagens, BMWs, Audis, and Mercedes Benz's exported into the United States.

The world’s largest BMW plant is in Greenville-Greer-Spartanburg South Carolina.

http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/28/news/companies/bmw-plant/

If you offer a good business climate, they will come.

Michelin North American HQ is just a couple of miles down the road.

Please don’t consider this an invitation to DamYankees and liberals to move here.

BMW announced a $2.2 billion plant in central Mexico that will open in 2019

Because so many Mexican peasants are dying to own their own X5.

If the plants were there to serve domestic demand, it would make sense.

But that's not the reason. As a German biz guy said, they are "chasing poverty", trying to find the cheapest squat labor they can find, and foist the resulting POS on us. For a big price.

Party's over, Heinz.

AUDI's being "Made in Mexico"... absolutely disgusting. I definitely will NEVER buy or own another one, ESPECIALLY in light of the fact that they are going to be "Made in Mexico".

I can hear AUDI's new commercial pitch line:

"Would you like a little guacamole sauce with your ersatz AUDI 'German engineering' order?"

"Oh and while you're waiting we are serving our customers free tacos, burritos and enchiladas!"

Ah, thanks but NO THANKS.

More importantly, Trump has apparently rejected the massive “border adjustment” tax that the congressional Republicans were trying to sell him.
