I couldnt have imagined that President Obama could do any more harm to the Cuban people before he left office, but I was wrong. With only a week left in his presidency he announced that the long-standing policy of accepting Cubans that flee the Communist island of Cuba by sea the policy known as wet feet, dry feet would change. That policy has been in place since President Clinton declared it so after the horrific debacle of the Clinton administrations handling of 9-year-old Elian Gonzalez.
After the forced deportation of Elian Gonzalez by armed U.S. federal agents under the direction of President Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno, the Clinton administration decided to only allow Cuban refugees to stay in the United States if they were able to take a step on the ground of U.S. territory. If they were picked up in an inner tube or raggedy, handmade boat at sea, they were returned to Cuba to certain punishment, imprisonments or death.
Now, with just a few days left of the Obama administration, Mr. Obama is giving the Cuban people yet another little gift. The president is changing U.S. policy and is reversing the wet feet, dry feet Cuban refugee policy. In the future, freedom-seeking Cubans will all be retuned. Thanks to Mr. Obama. How thoughtful and incredibly generous from the first U.S. president to visit Cuba, who tried to lift the embargo placed on Cuba after Fidel Castro brutally took over in Cuba with his Communist Revolution in 1960.

I wonder if he'll pardon Chesimard.
Fortunately, President Trump has a chance to reverse this.
“Fortunately, President Trump has a chance to reverse this”
I fully expect him to do this (I will be disappointed if he doesn’t).
Does anyone know of any reason why Trump cannot simply reverse this decision?
Obamas betrayal of the Cuban people
Now he ad a Cuban to the possible Libyan, Egyptian, Syrian, Kurd,or Rusian who in the future might tap him on the shoulder and give him his last few moments.
Atta go Obama.
I think there’s likely to be a lot that will get revised by Donald Trump, and Barack Obama even knows it. He’s doing that so as to let it be known that he kissed up to any and all lefty causes.
At the least he has sowed a lot of future enmity for himself. It’s not like this is a one sided story where the only side is the left side.
More proof that Obama does not care about any other human beings...
He cares a lot about over a billion people. That’s the problem.
Everything he’s done the past few weeks should be used in elections to show what the dems really are about.
I expect FL and OH to become easier to win as American Jews see what a monster Obama was and what a friend to Israel Trump will be.
I Expect my fellow Catholics to vote in a high majority the next time around. I’m thankful they voted for Trump, but not wide enough gap.
And I have to kick some a@@ on Staten Island. 57 percent for Trump??!! Rudy won by 80!
“After the forced deportation of Elian Gonzalez by armed U.S. federal agents under the direction of President Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno,...” Translation: Clinton’s gestapo. It is my deep hope that the agent who put that gun barrel in the face of that child has not had a full night of sleep since and is tormented by his actions. He would have made Henrich Himmler very proud and likely gotten an SS invitation.
Correction, Obama does care about certain people: Muslims and mentally ill cross dressers.
No, he doesn't. Our dictator wannabe only cares about what he and his party can get from them.
He must have a lot of faith in his future bodyguards.
How many people has he enjoyed snuffing on his live drone strikes. He got off on that according to military gossip.
He is a snuff vid fan...and his game may catch up to him.
lol.
Still, TBP may be onto something. Can this guy truly love?
Anyone besides himself?
He certainly wants muslims to kill Americans, but if he cared about all muslims, he wouldn’t have let ISIS rampage, unless killing all Christians was worth the price of some muslim lives.
He did it because most Cubans vote Republican.
Most of them figured out how socialism leads to bondage since their Island has been in bondage for over 50 years.
They know free health care means no asprin in the hospitals.
They know that free food means no chicken in the yellow rice and chicken and you go to work camp when they want you to.
Meanwhile he opens the flood gates to people who want not only socialism in this country but also want full borne communism .
This is the most despicable man to ever sit in the Oval Office. We still have 2 long days of his mischief to deal with.
Remember who BO’s mentor was.
I expect to see church confusion clear over time, in all parts of Christendom, as the difference between curses and blessings becomes plainer.
A hierarchy driven church (broadly, Orthodox/Catholic worshipers) has one kind of potential Achilles’ heel. If the hierarchy goes south in philosophy, then so will the laity. If they say that the love of Christ means to do lefty things without even bringing the matter before God, this can drag down millions of people.
Grass roots churches (broadly, Protestant worshipers) have other potential Achilles’ heels too, but they are of a different kind, and due to the splintering these errors are more contained from spreading to press on that entire branch of Christendom. It may be more difficult to become mature in such a congregation, and more of an individual quest before God.
I'm confused. Wasn't this the policy WHEN Clinton deported Elian Gonzalez?
ML/NJ
I hadn’t really thought a lot about that dark corner... but it seems plausible, and this would explain why there was such faint opposition to war of that kind.
I dont get my marching order from a communist pope.
And Trump’s win may be just the thing for the forces battling him to win.
i.e., Cardinal Burke
Yes, Clinton had changed the policy before Elian was rescued—otherwise he would have been entitled to remain in the US.
executive orders are not laws, they are undone by executive orders.
