The Damage Done to America by Manning … and Obama
The National Review ^ | January 18, 2017 | Andrew C. McCarthy

In response to "Disgrace: Obama Commutes Bradley Manning's Prison Sentence" ... I emphatically agree ... -snip-

First, -disgraceful for the New York Times to report ... that “Prosecutors … presented no evidence that anyone was killed because of [Manning’s] leaks." ... in cases involving classified information, the government frequently cannot reveal ... – the damage done... such revelations end up disclosing more classified information and, critically, identifying other informants and countries who have covertly provided national-security assistance to the United States.

That is why it is always a gimmee for apologists of the Mannings, Snowdens, and Clintons to minimize the harm they have done; it is generally impossible to provide concrete information to counter this claim absent exposing more intelligence and endangering sources for obtaining it. Second, there is a logical way to deduce the damage caused. ... Hillary Clinton’s reckless mishandling of our nation’s secrets: ... -snip-

What could a hostile government or terror network do with that information? Will they kill an intelligence agent who has been outed? What about operatives the agent has been running — who must then be pulled out to avoid arrest, or worse?... their operation must be considered blown, along with arrangements on which the operation relied — cooperating businesses, bank accounts, safe houses, drop boxes, etc. -snip-

... Obama has wielded executive power in favor of America’s enemies and against his own political opponents and scapegoats is breathtaking. The treasonous Manning ... Oscar Lopez-Rivera, an unrepentant FALN terrorist ... had his sentence commuted.

Taliban commanders are released, replenishing our jihadist enemies ... in exchange for Bowe Bergdahl, ... Iran is enriched and empowered with tens of billions of dollars – including ransom cash – and a mammoth nuclear energy program ... even as it remains the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism calling for “death to America.”

But if you are Dinesh D’Souza, ... a stiff prison sentence... tea party group ... here comes the IRS... an “anti-Muslim video producer”... you end up in the slammer.

If you are a deep-pocketed financial institution that Obama wants to make the culprit for the government-driven financial meltdown,... prepare to pony up a 9- or 10-figure “settlement.” If you are a police department, be ready to be scandalized as a practitioner of racially malicious enforcement. If you are Israel, brace for the “international outlaw” smear.

There are still [25] hours left. Who knows what other parting shots Obama has in store for America?

Sad but true, if Bradley Manning had hacked the DNC, he'd probably be sitting on death row by now. Instead he will be free as a bird.

Why was a low-level enlisted man granted access to sensitive classified information? He must have shown signs of mental instability and inadequacy at some point to his superior officers. These signs should have been noticeable and he should never have been granting high-level clearances. The military needs to reexamine and heighten their criteria for allowing access to sensitive secretive information.

And through it all, though I haven’t heard anybody say out loud, his excuse for his actions would be that he is transgender, and he was in a bigoted unforgiving position, being transsexual and all that.........

Nobody has said that publicly, that I’m aware of, but I’m sure Obama and his boys know that Manning is transsexual, and that this fact couldn’t help but be a factor in the commutation of his sentence.

I noted that Obama uses pronouns “she” and “her” to describe Manning, which also allows Obama to show how he’s with it with the LGBT peoples...........

So claiming gender issues is the new get-out-of-jail-free card. And notice that he is still ‘intact’ and could reverse course upon his release- making a complete mockery of justice.

He was in a homosexual relationship with his commanding officer. He gave the documents to Wikileaks to get back at the officer for dumping him.

Manning was a small timer compared to hitlery and 0bama, but of course hitlery and 0bama are too big to jail when it comes to treason and national security.

I am so tired of the federal government and intel agencies invoking national security as a means of hiding their crimes. Does anyone really think that the CIA, NSA, DHS, FBI, on balance, actually function to protect individual Americans? BTW, where was the FBI when James O’Keefe discovered two major terror threats to the inauguration? I’m sure FBI will provide a cover story later that they were hot on the cases.

I’m not going to defend Manning, but I will defend Snowden and Assange. If a federal employee or citizen whistleblower does manage to expose serious abuses of power and violations of constitutional rights of American citizens, their actions should be applauded even if some rules were broken. The federal government really should have no expectation of privacy unless there is a compelling national security interest and national security interest need to be very carefully and narrowly defined.

His commanding officer should have been held accountable; wonder if there were any repercussions for him.

Whistleblowers should be protected and have performed an invaluable service to America.

IMO, This is the key takeaway from the article:

... “Obama has wielded executive power in favor of America’s enemies and against his own political opponents and scapegoats is breathtaking. The treasonous....”

Then he lists the abuse of power by the DOJ, IRS and other agencies to prosecute and harass Obama’s political enemies.

Never again, America.

I will ponder that all day. You should start a thread with that title:

What has Obama done to NOT hurt America or her best interest?
