Swim to Cuba!
The constitution does say something like crimes against the united states, doesn’t it?
A communist terrorist freed a communist terrorist. Who could be surprised, let alone outraged?
Commuting the remainder of the sentence for an unrepentant, Castro-aligned terrorist was beyond the pale even by Obama standards, but I think that the Bradley Tranning commutation was even worse because (i) Tranning was an active-duty military officer that committed treason and should have been hanged after a swift trial, (ii) he only served seven freaking years in prison for *treason*, whereas López served 35 years, and (iii) at least we didn’t soend millions of taxpayer dollars on hormone treatments and surgeries so that López can live out his deranged delusions of being a woman (after Obama spent all that money to make Tranning “comfortable” in prison, the least that he could do is keep him in there).
Both commutations were abominable, but Tranning’s was more outrageous.
Technically, by freeing a traitor Obama could be found to have committed treason himself. Obama could be tried for treason for his actions in granting clemency and pardons to terrorists and traitors. He could also be impeached. If impeached he would lose his government pensions.
Less than three hours left......
Champagne, stone crab claws, a toast, a prayer and a huge sigh of relief await me and my family later today.
Can you be impeached after you leave office?
I agree that aiding and abetting a traitor is itself treason. No argument there at all.
Impeachment after leaving office removes benefits and the ability to further hold public office, so it does have an important use.
The two-thirds (67) Senate vote requirement to convict is almost impossible to achieve in contemporary conditions.
Yes. There is precedent for impeachment proceedings after the person has left office.
It probably won't happen, but clearly granting clemency to domestic terrorists and military traitors is in itself treasonous.
