Obama administration spent billions to fix failing schools, and it didn’t work
Washington Post ^ | January 19, 2017 | Emma Brown

One of the Obama administration’s signature efforts in education, which pumped billions of federal dollars into overhauling the nation’s worst schools, failed to produce meaningful results, according to a federal analysis. Test scores, graduation rates and college enrollment were no different in schools that received money through the School Improvement Grants program — the largest federal investment ever targeted to failing schools — than in schools that did not.

What you said is true. The welfare state of baby momas and the resultant hatred of “acting white” is the doom of young black lives. The only way to cure the problem is to end the “Great Society.” In other words...stop paying girls to have bastard babies.

It’s almost as though neither money nor government is the key ingredient for good education.

BS
The money was funneled to educators rather than to student education

The black woman from NEA that is bitchin about Trump parceled out the money to her cohorts

“Anybody who follows this knew pumping more money into horrible schools would not make one damn difference.”

You missed it by one word “public”, not “horrible”. No amount of money put into a socialist education model will fix them. If Trump does what Obama did, the money will be wasted. The MODEL is the MISTAKE.

Government schools are just institutionalized child abuse and must be shut down. Conservatives must take their children out now.

The money went to union stooges.

Lots of corruption in inner city 'schools'... Than again 'stupid ideas' don't work no matter how much money is behind them.

So far one of the few things that actually correlates with kids doing better is SMALLER SCHOOLS. Not smaller classrooms, not more pay, not 'program' du jour - but SMALLER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS. Which is the exact opposite of the direction the Elite Education Establishment Complex has been moving in... (of course)

You can not fix those schools until you fix the culture that populate them. It is just that simple.

We should deport the inner city culture that fails to educated their children and keep the Mexicans who come here and really want to work and get ahead.

If you take a look at where the schools in question are you will find that almost all are located in areas that have been only governed by democrats for five or six decades. What they have is what they, the democrats, have created.

The democrat/socialist/entitlement/professional victim mentality has created a culture of ignorance and violence.

The truth is that I feel zero responsibility to address, fix, help with, or even worry about the socialist democrat self-made hell holes they have created.

These places are of democrat construction and is their responsibility. They need to fix their own “$hit” with their own money and leave me and my rights out of it.

The dems really need to be forced to own what they have created because they will never be honest enough to own up to it.

I am a teacher in a labeled low performing, poverty district. Our state, last I read, has the largest group of Teach for America teachers in the country.

The problem stems directly from children coming from single parent families, dysfunctional families, being raised by either grand or great grandparents & having anger & attitude issues. A large portion of the day for too many teachers is dealing w/ children who have not been taught manners or any self control. And I’m talking kids in kindergarten exhibiting this.

As someone who has become more conservative over the years please answer this question........WHY don’t states penalize single mothers who continue to have children on our taxpayer dime? And I am from a state w/ a very conservative governor. If I am getting all the freebies why not have more kids?

The other thing that Trump has got to do is to cut off the checks they give families for their child if they are labeled learning disabled across the board. There are parents who coach their kids so they can get a check. And maybe a tiny handful use the check for their child, the majority use it to live. I had a special needs little girl (her smile made everyone happy!) whose mom was repeatedly asked to send in pull ups & baby wipes. I finally told her she could not come in until she sent those. And she was getting a large check. So STOP these checks.

Oh, I did not mean to monologue, but education in America is broken.

I agree, and a main reason for that is government intervention across the society, such as subsidies for wrong and unproductive behavior. More government involvement, in my opinion, will not help. They can "help" by stopping much of what they are doing.

Taking them away at birth might stop the cycle with them but the source of the material for the cycle has to be stopped as well. The only way is unacceptable in this country but it is sterilization of the baby mommas and baby daddies.

I would predict that Trump and DeVos will reverse this. Yes there is a dysfunctional culture, but school choice will allow for some separation between those kids who have parents who care, and those who don’t. Right now the rotten apples are allowed to spoil the whole barrel. Let the kids who can take advantage of a better opportunity have another choice, and they will move forward. The other kids will stay the same, but the numbers will be reduced.

Name what was improved... I fail to see the results. Only more indoctrination of our children.

“In that culture, being successful is “acting white” and thus is something to be avoided at any cost. And that is just one of the problems.”

I agree completely.
How many stories have we read about young black children who excelled academically being tormented or even beaten by other black kids for “acting white”?

For generations blacks have been raised on W E B DuBois and the NAACP when they should have paid attention to Booker T Washington instead.
The democrats have successfully kept their servant base ignorant and dependant.

There needs to be a sea change, a cultural revolution that throws off the ignorance that they so willingly self impose with the approval of the leftist elites.
Then, and only then, will the majority of blacks realise their true potential.
Not all the money in the world nor all the minority programs imaginable will help them.

Flat out, they first have to help themselves.
