There may not be a nuclear option if a few RINO’s in the Senate vote with the Democrats.

I’m sure glad Cruz was there to pronounce the obvious again.

Whew. That was close!

I'm concerned about resorting to the nuclear option, but then I think that it didn't help us a single bit with Obama’s court picks, so what's the point of keeping it?

couple other SCOTUS sitting members will have trouble hanging on for four years, the nuclear option may be worth the gamble. might get to appoint at least one an maybe two more.

We will not have to worry about the consequences of this rule change for a long time. The American voters have given us the power to keep the court conservative. We have a mandate. We should definitely do whatever it takes.

If Democrats refuse to do the will of the American electorate, then the government that America elected has an obligation to implement that will by whatever means necessary.

The Democrat party has shown itself to be totally dishonest and completely untrustworthy in the worst possible way.

To Hell with them.

As far as Cruz goes, I see no need to criticize him on this, I agree with him.

Whether or not the GOP goes nuclear really doesn’t matter, because if the Dems regain power, they most certainly will go nuclear, with regard to this matter, and any other matter, up to and including actual nukes.

They are totally insane.

Now is the time to wreck their f***in’ s***, every last bit of it, into dust, all damn day long.

What happens if the Democrats can’t maintain a filibuster? Do they then hold a vote, with a simple majority required?

If so, I would force the Democrats into doing a filibuster - make them stand up and talk.

I think we have reached a point where the Democrats will ever again do the moral, right or fair thing. It’s just not in their nature. We should declare the era of filibuster dead and have simple majority pass everything in the Senate.

That’s not just a “convenient” belief. It is one grounded in the idea that the Democrats crossed that rubicon first and will gladly do it again if they ever have the chance so we should not presume they will ever require 60 votes when they are in the majority again so why should we?

What a joke. Don’t use the nuclear option in case democrats get be in? They use it when they are in so I hope the GOP uses it when needed. After all it was the democrats who devised this option.

All of the Democratic Senators in red states are, already, in trouble, politically, and any anti-Trump vote, on any issue, could, eventually, put an end to their control of those U.S. Senate seats=GOOD!

The Dems wouldn’t hesitate to use the ‘nuclear option’ against the GOP if the rolls were reversed. So I say NUKE’em and NUKE’em good!

Trump Promises Supreme Court Pick Next Week As Cruz Threatens "Nuclear Option" To Bypass Dems

Hold on there, Sen Cruz. Did you clear that threat with senior Sen McCain (RINO-AZ) before making it?

Ah, another day, and someone posting some BS from Lyn’ Ted as if this will rehabilitate the liar. It ain’t happening and he has ZERO CREDIBILITY anywhere. While the Senate will act for President Trump, it will not be because of Lyn’ Ted. It will be despite him. At the end of the day, Lyn’ Ted is a serial liar and anything he does is simply for him. (And don’t flame me because I have no room for Lyn’ Ted, give him no credit when he does something aligned with President Trump. A broken clock is right twice a day, doesn’t make it any good. It is still broken. Lyn’ Ted is still a liar. Good riddance to him.)

"In 2013, Democrats, who at the time held the majority in the Senate, triggered the nuclear option to confirm several of President Obama's nominees. The move did not apply to the Supreme Court."

Bullshit!

The Dems did not trigger the nucler options for SCOTUS nominations only because they did not need to. Obama made 3 nominations during his term. GOP votes gave both Sotomayor and Kagan filibuster proof majority approval. The 3rd, Garland, was nominated after the Dems lost control of of the Senate and the 51 votes needed to use the nuclear option.

While the Democrats did not have occasion/need to use the nuclear option for SCOTUS nominations before they lost the Senate, they fully intended to use if and when the retook control.

"Reid: If Hillary wins and Dems retake the Senate, expect Dems to use the Nuclear Option for SCOTUS"

"Harry Reid's Parting Shot: Dems Will Nuke The Filibuster For SCOTUS"

"Kaine: Dems will use 'nuclear option' if GOP blocks court nominee"

The 2nd link includes Schumer being questioned about his position on Reid's admission of this intention for the Senate after Reid leaves and Schumer takes over. Schumer refused to answer.

3) Since Reid made this proclamation after he endorsed Schumer to be his successor [ "Harry Reid endorses Chuck Schumer to lead Senate Democrats" ] can anyone really believe Reid would have anointed Schumer without his agreement on this critical issue? Reid would certainly have at least asked and determined if Schumer disagreed - and Schumer would have been free to disclaim, or at least distance himself from, this intention.

I would like to see someone on our side come out with the truth. Republicans do believe that a President should be able to have the Cabinet and the SCOTUS judges that he/she wants. The Republicans in the Senate at the time confirmed the Communist Kagan, because Obama wanted her. They also confirmed the slow, limited intelligence Sotomayor, because Obama wanted her. Democrats don’t play the game the same way. We should learn from them.
