Trumps new administration are set to review US involvement in international treaties and agreements and could cut United Nations (UN) funding by 40 per cent putting aid and peacekeeping operations across the world in jeopardy.
Speaking on Newsnight, New York Times analyst Max Fisher said the White House is mulling over two executive orders which would see a massive reduction in US involvement with international partners on a range of issues.
The order would mandate a 40 per cent cut in all US funding towards the United Nations, any UN agency, or any other international organisation which would amount to billions of dollars Max Fisher He said: There are two executive orders that are in draft form that are circulating the White House now that they are currently planning to sign by the end of the week.
The first one would review a huge subset of multilateral treaties that the United States is currently engaged in - its not really clear which of those treaties they have in mind but it looks like it opens up climate agreements and environmental agreements to be abrogated.
The second, and in some ways bigger one, is reviewing funding for the United Nations and this draft executive order, if signed, would do two things.
First, it would terminate any US funding for any UN agency that needs a subset of conditions [including] any support for abortion programs; there are a few rules that are very vague - if it includes help for countries that opposed the United States then they would cut funding [although] no one really knows what that means.
He continued: But once theyve done that, then the order would mandate a 40 per cent cut in all US funding towards the United Nations, any UN agency, or any other international organisation which would amount to billions of dollars.
President Trump's Key Moments Wed, January 25, 2017 Our pick of the top key moments so far for the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

With the US involved in UN peacekeeping operations in 16 countries worldwide, including Cyprus, Lebanon and Mali.
Mr Fisher believes the US could significantly reduce its contribution to the UNBBC Mr Fisher believes the US could significantly reduce its contribution to the UN Mr Fisher believes these places arent really in a great position to have UN peacekeepers leave suddenly because the United States no longer wishes to be part of the United Nations fully.
The United States funds 27 per cent of UN peacekeeping operations, a lot of aid to refugees - these are programs that are already stretched extremely thin.
In terms of climate change, the Fisher believes the Paris Climate Agreement would be in the crosshairs following Trumps scepticism during his election campaign.
Fisher added: Its not unreasonable to expect him to use this as a mechanism to withdraw from it.
I wonder what all of the Cruzbots are thinking NOW!!!! This man is SOOOO MUCH MORE CONSERVATIVE than I EVER thought he would be and I have been with him from day one!!! I LOOKED at his kids and just KNEW the NEVER TRUMPERS were DEAD WRONG!!!! You don’t raise your kids for a lifetime with conservative values if you are a LIB!!!!!

October 24, 2012
October 24 is United Nations Day, or as Barbara Marx Hubbard calls it, Global Oneness Day. It has also been labeled Alger Hiss Day, in recognition of the Soviet spy and State Department official who played a major role in founding the world body. Dont expect the major media to remind us of that fact.
One of the best sources of information on the role of Alger Hiss in the U.N. is the important new book, Alger Hiss: Why He Chose Treason, by Christina Shelton.
The Shelton book notes, Following Yalta, preparation for the establishment of the United Nations was Hisss primary mission. Hiss was appointed acting secretary-general of the U.N. founding conference and was involved in staffing the U.N. by selecting people for employment in the world body. About fifty showed up as permanent employees and a couple of hundred in part-time assignments, Shelton says of Hisss efforts.
One of Barack Obamas fundraisers was Anthony Lake, a former Clinton official who had publicly questioned whether Hiss was guilty of espionage-related charges. Obama appointed him Executive Director of the United Nations Childrens Fund.
Obamas U.N. Ambassador, Susan Rice, has been strongly criticized for lying about the nature of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. She blamed the murders of four Americans, including the Ambassador, on a spontaneous reaction to a film attacking Islam, rather than an al-Qaeda terrorist affiliate which claimed responsibility for the assault.
Almost as controversial, the Obama State Department has announced that observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), an ad hoc organization under the United Nations Charter, have been invited to monitor U.S. elections on November 6.

“aid and peacekeeping “
Peacekeeping like Rwanda. Aid like Haiti?
The UN exists to expand socialism and islam and redistribute money from “the west” to violent African cesspools. .
Yes, this is what Heaven is like! Pinch me, am I dreaming? :0)
Winning is so much fun.
Relocate the UN to Kandahar, and let Trump Inc. develop Turtle Bay.
More winning.

Trump is keeping his promises.
Excellent!
Agree.
40%!!!!! To heck with 40%. 100%!!!!!!!! GET OUT OF THE UN. GET OUT NOW!!!
Sounds good to me. The UN (founded in San Francisco by leftist Episcopalians and Unitarians) has been anti-US from Day One and we’ve got to stop feeding the beast.
Not quite, but we're still winning!
Better than I ever dreamed possible.
I am not so sure, but at the same time, it is doing more to uphold the law, if that’s what you mean.
He (Obama) already has to deal with the humiliation of 2011 correspondents dinner, especially with the giant image of what a Trump White House would look like.
If he knew what he were doing, he wouldn't have done that. It's almost enough to draw sympathy. Not.
It's a start.
These deep funding cuts will lead up to a complete withdraw from the U.N. We do not need to be part of an organization which hates us and routinely votes against the U.S. and it’s interests.
Indeed. Thank you, President Trump!!!
How many apologies had Obama issued at this point compared to Trump’s accomplishments? Apology to accomplishment ratio?
This is insane. Who the hell actually DOES what he SAYS he would do. This is a first in my lifetime anyone has come into office and done crazy sh*t like this. I am not even sure how comfortable I am with all of this, but HOT DAMN, this man has cojones!
